Hi Everybody, I'm back on board after being off the blog for a while. There is no way I can back-read so if I say anything stupid, that is why. (Although I often say something stupid in regular life so what am I thinking?)

Sailor has a new son named Simon Paul. Such a sweet little boy. I was blessed to be there in time for the birth. I arrived the day after due date, then she went into labor that same night. They had the baby about 15 minutes after they arrived at the hospital. If I hadn't made it in time and they would have to take the kids to a friend's before going to the hospital, they wouldn't have made it.

I'm trying to add pics. Haven't quite got it yet.12065706_10205975282913777_2589889998406042825_n.jpg

Welcome Mickie. Yes, they get a pretty long break for Christmas, but he will have to decide if and how far to go "in the hole" for leave time.

My son is at basic and has pir 11/14/15 after which he goes to A school in SC. His recruiter told him he would have time off to come home at Christmas. Is this true?

They still have not found the missing sailor in GC.

Comment by britefuture on October 17, 2015 at 9:34am

Oh COtwin- what happened to which missing Sailor? I didn't see anything yet.

Comment by britefuture on October 17, 2015 at 9:33am

SlezaksMom-Wow, sounds like your Sailor is doing just great. Congrats! Good to here from you!

Lilo54-Sounds like it was an adventurous trip. Glad you made it to GC okay. Your up-coming trip sounds great! Can I stow-away in your suitcase.

CO-twin- How's the bakery coming along?

Well, it finally happened. My son is now a "shellback". His ship posted 380+ photos of the ceremony and WOW does it look like it was a good time. He messaged me, this morning, and said that a small group of Sailors were able to up on the top part of the ship, can't recall what he called that part of the ship, "crow row" maybe, and look out to see all of the ships and subs that are surrounding them. Said it was an amazing sight.

It's a beautiful, chilly, morning here in Maryland. We're taking a ride out to the western side of the mountains to watch trains at Brunswick. Have a great weekend!

Oh man that is not good news about the missing sailor. So Sad for his family.

SlezaksMom, I remember you,,,Wow what a recap. I was exhausted reading it. Congrates to your sailor. It is amazing how fast they grow up in the Navy and learn to do stuff for themselves. Neat.

Comment by SlezaksMom on October 16, 2015 at 10:24pm
Thank you all!!

Yes, I'm doing well, too. Made it through my first deployment with a minimum of upset -- although the pictures of them pulling out of port were tough!!
