Lilo54 - my son just graduated 9/4/15 from power school and all he said was that he needed 5,000 points total out of the 8,000 points total for all the tests and he had to pass the final Comp test to pass.  Now he did say that when some of the sailors had lower scores they would get talked too and some did wash out.  I'd say that if they aren't talking to your sailor about the grade point average it's all good.  I always so "no news is good news".  My son worried a lot about getting talked to and as far as I know he never did to extreme that he could wash out.  Tell you sailor to keep the faith and keep moving forward.

8isenuff - sending prayers for your ET as he heads to his new home!  I'm sure all will be fine ;-) (Hopefully he will check in with you along the way!).

Dittersmom - that would be awesome to get to meet your sailor too!  Can't wait ;-)  Friend request accepted!

Lilo54 - Haven't heard anything about the grading change.  Hopefully someone else will chime in & confirm....(Gosh, why would they change it, it rhymed after all lol!)

Question about grading for sailors currently in Power School.  The last time I talked to my sailor he was a little frustrated because he said they changed the grading.  It use to be 2.5 (stay alive) and that was the case in A school.  But he said now they have to maintain a 2.8 or else they will be washed out.  He is halfway thru and he is still hanging in there but clearly it is adding some additional pressure and stress to an already stressful situation.  Anyone else have sailors that talked about this change?

Tina and boywonder thank you.  I would have let that breath out, but I didn't even get a chance to take it in.  Lol. He has just done everything in secret.

Hi everyone,

Tom, please add my thanks for your take on your time in the Navy, and for sharing your story.  It helped me redirect my thinking about my kiddos.  I sent my ET off to his PDS this morning.  I was feeling a little blue, but it is much better to think of it as off to new and grand adventures.  Not that we won't miss him a lot, but I will look forward to the stories he has to tell.

Please say a little prayer for him.  He is driving by himself, in an older vehicle, and it will be at least a four day journey.  He is fortunate enough to have some buddies' places to land along the way, so that will help.  Hopefully no grand adventures while driving.

Dittersmom, Yippee!  That is such great news!  =)  I just happened to think of him the other day, and wondered if he had passed.  Hope you can still get that vacation in!

B'sNukeMom, Hope he got to see that Packers game.  It was an interesting Sunday for the football fans at my house.  There was a lot of yelling at the TV, at any rate.  ;-)

Hi all - Happy Monday!

Tom - thanks for sharing the stories.  The reunions sound like a blast!

Dittersmom - woohoo!  BZ to your son on passing his orals.  Now you can let that breath out that you've been holding lol!

CoTwin - thanks for sharing pics of the new place.  Looking forward to seeing what you do with it!

Got a brief email from sailor - he said they are able to get some of the football games on the ship so he was hoping to watch the Packer game yesterday.  I hope he was able to!

Thanks Tom, I'm glad to know it's looked back as a good memory.  My son is in prototype right now at BS. He's been there a good two months now I think it's his timming as you said to turn them into zombies (10 to 10). I haven't heard from him in two weeks now. Navy is training us parents too!

I guess I have raised a independent child. It is 10:46pm sand the textured me to say that he needed to get paperwork done. I asked what for. He said he was qualified. I didn't even know that he had done his orals. I am happy he passed.
