B'Nuke, fantastic video of the CVN75! Love how the tugs maneuver the giant carrier. Those carriers are so awesome! Tugs the heart to look at it and think, yes, my kid is in there.

Michelle, my son and I are very close but he isn't a great communicator. I didn't hear from him as often as others heard from theirs. One thing is for sure, he will reach out to you when he needs you. Don't get too down if you can help it.

Mark, you never fail. LOL

Welcome Michelle, yes you are not alone in the my son never calls... They are very busy, getting their independence some faster then others. I told mine to atleast text me on Sunday once a week and  say alive; so mama wouldn't worry so much sometimes that's all I got.

Love the video clips very cool and thanks for sharing pictures Co-twin very cool and I was like is that Bob Dole, yup. awesome.

Boywonders mom I'll PM you maybe we can hook up briefly. My boy is coming home tonight so hopefully we can hook them up and meet your boy so he feels more comfortable bopping over to state park and joining us next week. Would love to have him, tell him I'm expecting him. lol no pressure.

Thanks for your perspective, Mark. Makes me sad, but I'll have to accept that...I was a little suspicious that might be the issue.

I think he is just trying to create some space, and isn't sure how.  I'm confident the Navy doesn't test them like that, and he clearly isn't on restriction if he's having the fun you describe... or his phone's busted :)  They do say the cell coverage around the barracks is horrible.

Hi Donna, thanks for answering! Yes, he is in INDOC, at least that is part of his address. I know they have him working, sometimes briefing, but I really didn't know if he maybe had some disciplinary measure, or if this is sort of a "test" for breaking family communication to practice for when it happens for real in the future, or if he just wants me to not be texting or calling or something.
I am not an over-communicator as we don't talk every day. Believe me, I would LOVE to, but I am trying real hard not to smother him and to let him be a little independent, as much as that is killing me a little. I see that some moms get calls every day. I do not. We even had a weekend with no communication. It hurt. But I think he is having a blast down there, socializing, running, working out, learning judo and jujitsu, and going out on weekends.

Michelle my son's in power school.  When he was in A school we talked everyday.  Maybe they're doing something different now.  So he isn't in INDOC yet?

Hello, I am new here, our son has been at A School in Goose Creek for about 2.5 weeks now. He has yet to begin classes as they wait for the others to fill in the class. He has told me he is "out of communication" for a week. No calls or texts. Is this a common thing? Thanks.

LOL Mark.

I confess it wasn't quite the spectacle I'd thought, and no they don't go fast because their job takes tremendous power, as demonstrated by the wake you mention - but applied at slow speed, so they can control huge ships in tight areas.  It's some remarkable engineering, if that's your thing. cough, cough :)

Hard to tell how fast they go but do have a big wake. Lots of noise, fun.
