The engines in those babies ain't little.  I'd imagine you can google "tugboat races" and see some entertaining stuff - almost as good as cat videos ;)

Isn't it amazing what those little tugs can do? Steering such a big ship out of harbor.

Hi all - Happy Thursday!

Co-Twin - they are holding his job for him (by law they can't terminate you for jury duty).  He's just bummed because of the money he will be losing out on....he'll still have the whole month of July & I think part of August to work...We are heading to Mammoth for vacation.  Can't wait!  I would love to have my Navy Momma's join us!  Pack your bags & let's go!

Love the pics of your dad!  Thanks for sharing ;-)

Got an email from my son (he's on an underway right now).  Said he "crushed" his test that he took (he was very happy!) and said he started on his final board yesterday and would hopefully finish it today and then he would head to division in a few days! So happy for him ;-)

I do the same thing with boxes - keep one open & just add to it until it's full!

I have some fun when mine deploy with care packages. I always have one open on the guest bed that I add to and when it is full I mail it and start another.

OOO jury duty, sounds like more than a misdemeanor. Sorry he will miss out on the summer job. Rats they won't hold it for him? Hope he makes the vacation, Where are you going, can I come?

My son is on his first short underway on his sub. Got one quick text one day he sent a picture. Looks like they are not far from shore.

Hello everyone! Been out of touch for a while now.
1 proudmama, told my son about your invite. He was considering invading your vacation. He was so bored, nothing to do after INDOC because he had to wait for the Navy to issue his badge. Is a complicated process now. But thankfully he got his badge on Monday and stared working on the ship. Immediately thrown into a whole new and real life "prototype" 12 hours Monday thru Friday. So he's very busy right now. We are in Doswell this weekend so he's coming to a street party with us in downtown Ashland.
We'll be back in Orlando on Sunday, and will be back in Doswell next month again. We have not been to Newport News since he's working all the time.
Hopefully We'll get a chance to meet soon enough.
Thank you so much for inviting my son, it was really nice of you. So when is your son starting INDOC? waiting times could be really hard on our boys, they get restless, LOL. Hurry up and wait!
B'nuke, it's great to hear about your son, keeping busy is what they like.

Hello all!

Bnuke-- good luck to your son on his deployment!!  We parents are never ready! Lol.   good luck to your son with jury duty!

NancyJo - yep, I'm trying to prepare for deployment, but don't know if that is actually possible lol!  I am trying to learn all I can....thank goodness I have this place!

So college son reported for Jury duty yesterday and he got picked for a trial!  It starts today and is expected to wrap up by the 18th.  Then they go to jury deliberations (Judge thinks the whole thing will take about 13-14 days).  He's kind of excited about the process, but bummed because he has an on-campus job for the summer (30 hours a week) and now he loses out on the pay :(  (On the other hand he will get $15 day for jury service LOL!) I guess he's lucky that he has mom & dad to support him!!!  Then we leave on vacation on the 27th (reservations are made!) so I sure hope they have everything wrapped up before then - no holdouts on the jury!  I told my son he should go in and take charge & be the jury foreman (he's 20!) - he's a lot like me lol!  Fingers crossed that all goes smoothly.
