Hi All - Happy Almost Friday!

Yep, I thought the little monkey yesterday was fitting LOL!  Glad everyone got a chuckle out of it!

Congrats & BZ Co-Twin to your other sailor! Great job ;-)  And I hope the job offer for you is something you want - sounds exciting.

britefuture - decisions, decisions.....Sleep on it & hopefully you will figure out what is best for you.  Keep us posted!

BoyWonderMom - Wow - the 100% tuition assistance sounds great!  My son has been so busy on his ship he hasn't been able to look into any of that yet.  Hopefully in time he'll be able to do that....

Only 6 more members away.....

COTwin, congrats to your son on his advancement! And congrats to you on the job offer! So many good things coming to you and your boys. I'm so proud of you!

BoyWonder, your sailor is excited and that is a thrill isn't it? It doesn't really matter what our children choose to do as long as they can get some level of satisfaction and it sounds like your son is pumped. That is awesome!

B'sNuke, I took your monkey picture and shared it with my building. Lots of chuckles...love it! Although some days I feel like that regardless of the day of the week. ;D Last day of school tomorrow so everybody around here is a little weird right now. I work year round so I can't really explain all the weirdness so will just roll with it.

Good Morning!
My sailor's still in Indoc, today is the end of his second week. He's got from Friday to Monday off and since he said is his last long weekend off he's taking off to Rhode Island to visit his best friend who is a navy corpsman.
He has come along since his first shocking impression of life at the Newport News shipyard.
I think the navy recognize the very long time it takes to refurbish a ship and there's lots of activities being offered to the sailors now.
One of the college courses with a 100% tuition assistance. Sailor is pretty exited about it.
They gave them the ship's schedule. Exited about it also!
One more four day week and he will be done with Indoc and to work onboard the ship.
1proudmama, thank you so much for the offer for my son to visit with your family. I will pass it to him. I think he knows who your son is. He said they graduated Same class of power school.
The sailors can live off base as E4 but they don't get living expenses allowance. He said he's not about to spend that kind of money even with roommates. What they do get now is food allowance since they don't have a kitchen at Huntington facility.
Hope our sons get to meet so they can travel together to Ashland and hang out. I'll be a long couple of years!!!
Co-twin congrats to your new PO 2nd class, that's a great acomplishment, you should super proud! Not one but two successful sailors! Congrats on that job offer too!

Co-Twin - how long did it take you to make all of that? Just reading your message gave me the desire to make a cinnamon swirl cake. Which says a lot at 5:30 a.m. when I'm usually comatose waiting for my coffee to kick in, lol. That's great that you were offered a position. Are you taking it?

Got a short message from my son. He's doing well, spoke about a "work party" on the ship. Whatever that is, he didn't seem to enjoy it. Apparently, it's not literally a party.

Was at work, one day last week, and was recruited by an executive at the state agency that regulates EMS certifications. I looked into it and while it would be better pay and good benefits, I've never really seen myself as an admin.. My hubby thinks that I should take it. Not for the money but to be back in emergency services. Hum! I just don't know.

Was a beautiful day here, yesterday. A bit chilly with the breeze but I loved it. Forgot to turn our heat back on so it was 64 in my house this morning. Oops! Rain expected today though.

Texted with my Twin sailor (nuke) He is still in Indoc but has been on his boat and met some of his boat mates. He said everyone so far he likes. He has had time to do some driving around the island and had some good Hawaiian food. He said he may have to be flown out to the boat when he finishes. Indoc.

Meanwhile got a message from Twin Salior (IT on Destroyer) HE IS A  NEW Petty officer 2nd class!! HooYa!!

Had day two at one of my internship jobs. Chef came and offered me a permanent position with rather decent pay!!

Today my prep list was 9 Dozon Cinnamon rolls, 9 peach pies (one had to be sugar free) and Swiss buttercream for the two huge sheet cakes I made yesterday to be served today at lunch. I am pooped.

Hi all - Happy Wednesday!

Patti - sorry you weren't able to make it to Japan.  I hear such great things about it and the people.

My son is just hoping his ship will get out LOL.  Fingers crossed - I won't get into specifics due to OPSEC!

Good luck Sierrascrapper to your son and all those starting Power School today!  On to the next round ;-)  And congrats to your college son on a successful 1st year of college!

Hi all, busy time here this spring.  Oh wait we  have a frost warning here in MN for tonight.  Is it really spring?  Then again I heard it will be in the 70's on Saturday.

A little up date on the guessing game.  Yes we were stuck on 2686 for weeks I think.  For the rest of the month, I have some one written in every day except 23, 28, and 31  I would think we could get 8 new members in the next 11 days.

Hey there everyone! Lots of activity on here.  It's hard to keep up with everyone but I am trying to go back several pages to see what the conversations are about.  Congrats to all the new graduates and to those who are just starting their journey in the fleet.  Thanks BoyWonderMom for the info about Newport News.  I will have to pass that info along to my son as he has put down Virginia as one of his "dream choices".  Not sure exactly why as I have always heard not so good things about it.  Of course I would rather have him put down San Diego before VA anyway, but that's because I'm biased.  Not that he has any control over where the Navy sends him.  They are going to send him wherever they need him.  LOL  Still...this Mom is hoping for WA or San Diego.  I can dream!

Got to finally chat for a little while with my Sailor today.  SO HAPPY!  He starts Power School tomorrow and he is really excited and looking forward to getting back into the school routine after being on T-track for almost 2 full months.  He is also looking forward to all the math and science aspect of this round of schooling.  Don't ask me where he gets that geekiness from.   LOL  Oh and he recently moved into a new barracks and is happy that he doesn't have a roommate at this time.  This is the first time since he's been there that he doesn't have a roommate.  It gives him a chance to practice on his clarinet more often which is REALLY good for him so that can unwind some after a long hard day.  He just bought his first car last week too! We are so proud of him and how he went about the process.  He really took his time looking for the right car at the right price and didn't do anything stupid.  He got financed through NFCU and got his insurance through USAA.  He sure is loving the independence of having a car now.  It's amazing to see how they mature so quickly and take responsibility for their lives.  So proud!

My Sailor's twin just finished his first year of college too and he did quite well with a 3.4 GPA overall.  I was a bit worried that he might struggle through college, but he likes it and he is doing this all while holding down a job. Sure makes a Mom's heart happy to have two sons who are doing so well after high school and starting out on the right foot in life.
