Catching up....  So, after Prototype graduation in BS 4/10/15, my husband and I drove home.  Nuke son had to work a few more days and get his ducks in a row up there, then he drove home too.  He had a ~10 day leave (not sure what counted as leave, that's why the ~) and Monday AM he started the drive to his new base, Groton.  After a night in a hotel, he kept trekking and made it to Groton safely.  I haven't talked to him yet, just a few FB Messenger messages.  He has a room, a room mate, there is a small kitchen with the room and bathroom.  Still not sure if they share the kitchen and bathroom with others and what's actually in the kitchen.  Also not sure if he has met the room mate yet.  :-)  As you can see I don't know much, but that is nothing new.  He's not big on communication.

During his time at home, he went through his room, cleaned out stuff, went through all his clothes, where most went in the "get rid of pile" (a few will go to younger (shorter/smaller) brother and the rest will get donated.  He did this before he left for boot camp, but this was a serious clean-out.

I'm hoping he'll enjoy his new place.  I'll keep you all updated as I learn more.

Bravo zulu citizens of Baltimore who stand in the streets defending their city against thugs whose goal is mayhem. That makes me think of the citizen militia that the Founding Fathers had in mind when the constitution was written.

Heather, love that 2nd honeymoon idea. You go, girl!

COTwin, you are killing me. I want some! I see big things ahead of you. Keep us posted.

My sailor is complaining that Australia has no paper money under $5. Every time he sits coins fall out of his pocket. Who knew?

Comment by britefuture on April 30, 2015 at 7:43am

Heather- That's great that you heard from your husband. I'm happy for you. A second honeymoon? He must miss his beautiful bride. My husband has asked to do that but neither of us wants to leave our son so he has always come with us, lol. It's good for him though, last year we went on a cruise to the Bahama's. I hope he gets your emails.

CoTwin- I feel like I've been neglecting you. I'm so glad that you're doing well in school. This treats that you've shown have looked delicious. Do you taste all of them? I've found that when I cook, whether a meal or a desert, I don't want to eat it. Strange, I know, lol.

I look at the rioting as a complete lack of control. I don't know about you, but I have zero time for anything, outside of my household responsibilities. By 8, I'm usually preparing my 3 year old and myself for bed. So I think, the rioters must not have jobs, a house they have to maintain, children that they take of nor do they have any self control. When I get angry, I yell and maybe slam a drawer shut or a cabinet. On a few occasions I've been able to channel my energy into a good workout. And sometimes I have to simply walk away and take a stroll o help clear my thoughts. Yes, we all get angry. But a responsible, respectable citizen would not destroy their own nor anyone else's neighborhood.

Hallelujah I finally got an email from my husband after a month of no contact!!! Except he hasn't received any of my 20 something emails... sub-mail can be so frustrating.

BUT he wants me to plan a second honeymoon for when he gets back. Didn't have to twist my arm too hard there. It will be our first vacation together (without kids) since he joined almost 5 years ago.

Still enjoying my Nuke. He will be here till the 8th. I am so proud of who he is becoming.

I can not understand the thought behind rioting. What good can that possibly accomplish?  So sad. Hope you husband will be OK.

School had been very busy. Into Molecular Gastronomy this week Last one and a half was international cuisine. Today made an Arnold palmer plate. Earl Grey spheres, honey sheets, brown sugar air and lemonade cubes. When you popped the shares it made an Arnold Palmer.

Well, I got a few messages, early this morning, from my son as he made his way to his new home. I can only assume that he is with his crew and settling in. Wow! He's been in the Navy for 2 years 4+ months and is stepping on to a ship for the first time. Lol! Gotta love the Nuke pipeline. Now back to the waiting game to hear from him.

Baltimore was weird today. The Orioles played a baseball game with no fans allowed in the stadium, so those with tickets showed up outside and still cheered them on, the Baltimore Symphony gave an impromptu concert, there were marching bands in the streets and along side all of this was the National Guard and countless police officers with riot gear and big guns ready to go. Oh and lets not forget the ridiculous amount of news media. Including Heraldo Rivera. Does that man ever age?

I don't comment very often but read everything. The story of the midshipmen in Baltimore brought tears to my eyes and I felt a lot of motherly pride. None of them were my kids but I am a Navy mom and they all make me proud.

Hi all - Happy Wednesday!

J's/S'smom - Awesome story!  Thanks for sharing.  A great big HOOYAH for the Navy Midshipmen.  Thankful that they were where they were & were able to help those families.

I also saw the news about the mom that went to where the riots were going on & pulled her son out (whilst giving him a smacking!).  I say good for her....I can't even imagine the fear she would have been experiencing thinking of "what could have happened" if her son stayed.

britefuture - glad your hubby is home safe & continued prayers for your BIL.  Also sending prayers your way NonnaB.

Comment by NancyJo (NNPTC) on April 29, 2015 at 9:50am

You're right, J'smom, there are way more good people than not so good in this world. Just look at all the wonderful moms and males here. Prayers for all our loved ones in harm's way foreign and domestic.
