The several of you that are in 1405 I would guess and this is just a guess that you all would graduate before July 24. Especially since you are saying they are taking their orals soon. I'd guess a May graduation seems like they are all of a sudden pushing them thru. One of my local Navy mom friends non nuke also just got San Diego. Britefuture I told her and I'll tell you once you get over the initial disappointment of not having them close by, you'll be planning all your visits to sunny San Diego. Enjoy

Co-twin and Boy wonder,  congrats to your sailors.   I am so glad that they passed.  I prayed lots for both.

My son started prototype this last Monday.

Newbie 17 I am not certain when my son will be done , but he went into bc 14 months ago and started proto this week.  It is moving to fast.

Thanks Mark. I'm very excited about San Diego. So is he. I've just got to untie the apron strings and let him go. I've already got a piggy bank started for my first trip out west. Actually have thoughts of visiting a certain SoCal member or two.

Dinky- enjoy Charleston, I loved it but didn't get a chance to visit half of the sights that I wanted to. And congrats to your sons room mate. Bravo Zulu!

britefuture - on the plus side, San Diego is the best home port a nuc can get.  It's a wonderful place to spend the prime of youth.  Good luck!

Well, we arrived in Charleston late last night and our Sailor and his GF surprised us at the airport!
Today they took us to the Irvin house vineyards and Firefly distillery at Wadmalaw Island. We had a much needed picnic in between the wine tasting and moonshine tasting. It really is a nice place to spend a few hours. They have bunny rabbits, a cow (in the vineyard),a goat, a pig, and various cockerels.
To top the day off right, one of their room mates passed his oral board today!

CoTwinSalorsMom & BoyWonderMom - Bravo Zulu! Thats fantastic. A big sigh of relief for you both.

If I haven't said so yet, I was very sad to hear/read about NDM. He was such a good friend to us. What a tragic loss.

Congrats to all recent grads. It's great to read about more of our kids making it through each phase of the nuke pipeline.

My Son has been all over the tri-state area trying to enjoy the r&r while he can. He went to Long Island, NY for a few days with a buddy from Proto, then he spent a week in Fenwick Island DE, with his grand-parents. This week he's with his Dad and then I get to see him for a week before he leaves us again. We'll probably spend the week making calls and preparations for his departure to his new home, the USS Roosevelt. I'm not sure how I'm gonna handle this departure. The past two years have been rough but at least we had routine communications and he was geographically close. This time he'll be.......well.......you know. Trying not to think too much about it. Ugh! Happy and sad all mixed up.

Hope you're all having a good week. Overcast and raining here. Maybe thunderstorms on Friday. I love a good storm!

My son is 1405 ET S8G and he has said July 24, then said June 24, then said he really doesn't know

Comment by MichianaMom on April 8, 2015 at 4:58pm

Hi Mary! Sounds like your son is in the same boat as mine, no pun intended. He's an EM and S8G, has 100% and orals within the next couple weeks - official grad date is July 24.  He has talked about graduating sooner, or no grad at all, just going to a ship. I think he really doesn't know. I honestly think they are so busy that they don't worry about things like graduation dates - that for us to worry about I guess.  I know it's hard to plan, but I hope that if I don't make it to graduation he will at least be home for awhile before going to a ship.
