Welcome Hill986!  Make sure your read "Your Sailor's Schedule Upon Arrival to GC" above.  Also look through the discussion forum - hit "view all" - and you will find lots of valuable info.....feel free to ask questions if you can't find what you are looking for!

M'sMom - I'm not sure the answer to your question about visiting at duty stations as my son is still in school, but I think you would have to get that info from your sailor.  I know they can't give specific info about deployments (at least on a public forum) but they should be able to give you an idea of when they will be out - unless they are on a sub.  I think they might go out more often..... Hopefully someone else will chime in with a better answer!

peejinator - your sailor can leave base during indoc but there is a curfew until they phase up.  I don't know how much of him you would see on the Saturday he arrives from BC.  You might be better off waiting until Thanksgiving if you could go then.

TJ Proudnukemom - Welcome!  The time is going to go by fast - February will be here before you know it.  Make sure to take lots of pictures & make lots of memories.

Hope everyone has a great day.

Welcome TJ proudnukemom! My son is in GC, he's a MM starting prototype training next week.
Your son will do just fine, and you too.

Thanks! I'll definitely be coming here for info. I've already learned lots about graduations and such.

I'm not worried about the transition for him, or me. He did well at UCLA and is physically fit so he'll be fine and I'll be fine. This won't be the first time he's left home, or even lived over seas.

Thanks for the warm welcome. It's a wonderful fraternity to have joined.

Welcome TJ Proudnukemom!  My son is currently in power school and graduates next month.  We just visited him this past week to bring him his truck.  Had a great but very short visit.  I miss him already.  Luckily I will see him at graduation too.  He loves the Nuke program so far, fingers crossed.

Welcome TJProudnukemom! Welcome to a great group of love, support, and shared wisdom. Hang on tight, it will be quite a ride for both you and your sailor. No question is a dumb question and no worry too small to share. We're here for you and glad to have you.

New nuke mom here. Just got word that our son was accepted in to the program and leaves for basic in February.

WearsLargeHats....So does the Sailor have freedom to leave base during the "indoc" time?  Don't know if I should go to SC on Saturday when he is shipped there, or Wednesday when they are off for Thanksgiving holiday?
