Funny image. Talked to my son fro GC and he said he could see men playing and sliding around in the mud playing football outside his rooms window. I guess it is rainng there lol

I'm going to give the game a shot also do they have a iPhone texting version. Neither of my twins use email anymore.

B'sNukeMom...I'm going to have to give that Words with Friends idea a shot.  I don't play the game, but if I could get my Sailor to play it with me and maybe his twin too, that would be AWESOME!  I'm trying to find ways to keep that connection with my Sailor alive.  He started A-school yesterday and it took all I had within me not to send him a text to ask him how his first day went.  I am dying to get some kind of message from him.  I am going to send him a cute little text today just to say hi and hope all is well that way when he finishes in class today he'll see it.  I just can't resist!

cotwinmom- I thought I was going crazy. I remembered hearing he was going up to NY but then couldn't find any posts about his move. Glad he got to keep his cute little car.

I want to share a fun way to stay in touch with your sailor (and I also do this with my college son).  Play "Words with Friends" with them.  Nothing makes me feel better than to get a notification on my phone that a word has been played and I know it's either my sailor son or my college son!  They are the only 2 people I play with and it sure helps me feel connected to them ;-)  Sometime it's days (& days) before sailor will play a word but when he does it makes me feel so good 'cuz I know we are thinking of each other!  It may sound silly, but trust me - it's like Pavlov's dog experiment - you hear the notification sound & immediately you are conditioned to feel better.  It's the simple things in life LOL! (I bring this up 'cuz sailor just played a word and it made me feel good!)

Pastlady, when my son got the nuke contract, it pushed his ship date from April to Sept. Well, around Feb. he got a call asking if he could ship out the next week. He turned it down, mainly out of surprise: he really wasn't in the frame of mind yet. I would advise your son that it is possible that the phone could ring and he could have the opportunity to ship out very quickly. As soon as he gets to a place where he would say yes, he should tell the recruiter to go ahead and accept any such openings, as they are only available for minutes. The next step past that would be to file a DAR for an earlier date. In the meantime, he should use his DEP time to prepare, esp. for the Physical Fitness Assessment part.
