hello all!

I sent my son jerky, gum and some things from home that he couldn't get in goose creek.  he shared some of his goodies with others.

My son says he is pulling 18 hour days so he wasn't wasting sleep time on breakfast. He wanted protein bars so I sent that and beef jerky.

Oh & I almost forgot. I send sugar free Jolly Ranchers & life savers. I know some of them use things like that to suck on in an effort to stay awake in class

Britefuture, I send mine things like cup o soup, gum, flavor packets for water along with his game force magazine. Sometimes I make homemade cookies & brownies also. I also throw in medicines I think he may need like tums & Tylenol. Oh & Chapstick of course. I also do a something called subscribe & save thru Amazon.com. Once a month they send him a box with kraft Mac n cheese & mashed potatoes(single serve) plus goldfish crackers. Their prices are reasonable plus they ship directly to him & the shipping is free so it saves me the postage. He loves having those things on hand for times when he just wants a quick snack.

8isenuff- your post brought me to tears, I miss my son so much. Even though I talked to him multiple times a week, there's nothing like a hug from our kids. I'm happy that you had such a great surprise and jealous at the same time.

Kimbo- That's also exciting news. I assume that also means that the light is at the end of the tunnel for your son. Awesome!

I'm thinking about sending my son a little care package. But I'm at a bit of a loss for ideas. Any help ladies and gentlemen?

Wearslargehats-  thanks for the info...yes he's in prototype...that's so cool...:)

Comment by WearsLargeHats on September 6, 2014 at 11:11pm

Kimbo, if your son is in prototype, I think that means he was one of the operators when they brought the reactor up to critical (the point at which the reaction is self-sustaining).

Hi all, it's been crazy here, so I am just catching up on about 10 pages of posts.  Wow, lots of great things happening!

Bravo Zulu to the newest grads!  Proud moments for everyone!

Co-Twin, happy house hunting!  I am so excited for you and your new adventure.  :-)

B'sNukeMom, please take care of yourself.  Sure hope PT helps.

Our nuke girl surprised us with a quick visit over the holiday.  =D  Sneaked in at 2 am and scared me half to death when I walked around the corner to the living room and found her there.  Our family participates in a large county fair, and I had just been telling her that day how much we missed having her there.  Oh, she felt smug!!  She surprised her sisters later that morning and then showed up at the fair and surprised my parents, too.  My mom cried.  Very sweet moment.  She said it felt great to be outside all day in comfy clothes, pet horse noses, and get dirty.  lol, That is my girl!  She even found her show clothes and got in the ring.  It was so good to see her, and I think it was good for her to get home, too.  I'm still basking in the glow of it.  :-)

B'sNukeMom -- good luck with the shoulder and remember that taking care of yourself is Priority #1!  (We probably all need a reminder of that ...).  Take care.
