I talked to my brother, my nephew is down in GC now. I think he's an MM, but my SIL hasn't called me or been home ... my brother has cancer and gets a little fuzzy on details.

Cheryl - that is how Thanksgiving went for my son - found out on Monday that he had off for the holiday, but by then it was to late to come home to MN. If there are families out there to take our soldiers in for the holidays then I feel a little better.

God Bless and Go Navy

Gayle - if he goes home with friends who live close by, or at least gets to spend the holidays with someone he knows, then I don't feel so bad. Yeah, would I want him home for the holidays? But I know being in the military it isn't always going to happen. I am just glad there are familiies out there who are willing to take our guys/girls in and give them a good dinner and be there for them.

Susie - I am not sure which school he is at - I know there are two there. He is at Balston Spa. As of 2 days ago when I talked to my son, no he will not graduate in SC - he will stay in NY. They started training again Monday - he is working 12 hr shifts because that is what they do when they are 'live' training. I do not know if they have started all 4 classes back up - it was Thanksgiving, and he was at a friends' family home having dinner, and I didn't want to get to much into school - he was on a break. I am going to talk to him tonight and find out if the other classes have started up.

Bobbi - congratulations on your son's promotion!!!

Gayle - he was supposed to graduate Feb 20, but he said it will be pushed back. So waiting to find out when. The reason my son will probably not be able to come home for Christmas is because they are not in 'class' anymore, they are actually working 12 hr shifts, so they don't get time off as if they were in school.

WE had a blast for Thanksgiving. We had 13 sailors in all at Goose Creek. I am madly in love with your sons whom I met. May God continue to bless them and keep them safe.

Gayle - let me know if they get them out of there by Christmas. When I talked to my son a couple of weeks ago, they had shut down both plants - so they had to restart both of them, which is why training has been delayed. I asked my son why it was taking so long, and he said that because someone (non-Navy) didn't their job right, they shut both plants down, and it takes a while to get them back up and running.

I am at least greatful that he was able to go to a friends house yesterday and have a good dinner. He told me the other day that because they have started back up in school (they started Monday again) they probably won't be able to come home for Christmas, because they don't get time off. Has anyone had their son be told that they don't get time off for xmas cuz of school, but they actually do?

Wendy - My son is in New York, and was invited to a friends house - the parents also live 2 hours away. At least being he couldn't come home, he could be somewhere with friends, and enjoy a dinner. I talked to him already, and he said everything was good.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone, God Bless and Go Navy!!!

I would like to clarify that I was not complaining - my son is at a training facility. I know the repercussions of a nuclear reactor - I was simply looking to talk to other mothers who have been through this. I thought that is what this site was about - talking to moms who have been through this and getting advice.

I would like to say Happy Thanksgiving to everyone also. This is the first year my son won't be home. And he is in New York - some families have their sons/daughters overseas, and I hope they have a nice Thanksgiving. At least my son has a friends house he can go to for dinner, and enjoy a day off.

I pray for everyone's children everyday who serve, and I am proud that my son is one of them.

God Bless and Go Navy!
Trina
