JayDee - yikes on the tree!  You are so lucky as it could have been so much worse - sounds like you need to call a good insurance claims adjuster - wink wink.  Oh wait, you already have one of those and what a good guy he is!

Yes, the qualifications never end - they continue on in the fleet.....always learning and always qualifying!  And there are time restraints on them too.

Nursemom - I am so sorry to hear about the struggles your friends daughter is going through.  I agree with JayDee - have them reach out to the Chaplin ASAP.  Does she have any friends there in Bremerton that can help her?  I understand that her husband is busy with work but he also needs to get her some help so nothing happens to her or the baby (I'm not saying she would do anything, but you don't want it to get to that).  He should reach out to the Ombudsman - I'm sure they can make some suggestions.  She should also talk to her doctor ASAP, she could very well be experiencing postpartum depression.

JayDee659 - sorry to hear about the tree!! Glad there wasn't any damage that could potentially happened!! Enjoy your flowers, chocolate, and teddy bear. My husband surprised me last night with a bouquet of fresh flowers.

Nursemom, prayers for your friends family!  I wish I knew of any resources out there.  Maybe the chaplin can help direct them?

Chipmunk, she said that work and training get mashed in to that too.  There are also some other schedules that are used but they're more complicated and not as common.  Semper Gumby...

After a 60 degree day yesterday with torrential rains we are in the 20's today.  Last night a huge tree came down in my front yard.  It could/should have down down over the drive and into my neighbors front yard all while crushing my Burning Bushes and maybe their car.  BUT it laid down parallel to the driveway so quietly that I didn't realize what happened until the dogs started barking like there was a yeti at my front door.  The darn tree is almost 100' long and reaches all the way out front, just the tops reaching into the street about 2' or so. Whew, what an evening.  Today will make up for it though, my husband sent me not only a dozen roses, but chocolates and a teddy bear :)  Love that man.

Nursemom - I don't know of resources but I will be praying for the family as they come to my remembrance.

ProudofK - Enjoyed the snow picture. It was back in '95 I think when our youngest (at that time) was born and we were in Richland that we had a large snowfall, but not like the one you shared.

JayDee659 - thanks for sharing this information. I will relay it to my son. You mentioned Prototype being similar and currently he is doing not only watches but also studying and then by the time they leave and get home is putting in about 14 hour days. It sounds like the ship might be a little less which would be good. We shall see, as you said, needs of the Navy.

Congratulations to all of the recent graduates!!!

Moms I need your help! My girlfriend's adopted daughter and nuke SIL are in the Bremerton/Silverdale area of Washington.  They have a 2-month old daughter.  My girlfriend lives across the country and just returned from a visit to them and is distraught because the family is not coping well.  Her nuke SIL is working 7 days a week and her daughter is caring for the baby all alone.  She is struggling mentally and physically and has a history of trauma as a baby at the same age and triggers are coming back.  My friend wants to fly her daughter and the baby home to PA.  I told her I would ask this group if you know of any resources in the area or how the Navy can help.  She welcomes any suggestions you might have.  Thank you and please pray for this family!

SailorsLIMom, my daughter says they're always qualifying.  It doesn't stop after prototype.

Comment by SailorsLIMom on February 12, 2019 at 11:48pm

Thanks for that JayDee659!  Our daughter also said there are regular assessments via written tests, similar to what they had in Prototype.

Comment by JayDee659 on February 12, 2019 at 7:22pm

Also, my Nuke has said that prototype is a pretty fair comparison for schedule.
