Leese/K's Mom - wow...longest deployments. Not something you want to be the winner at, huh? Jdmom - general direction is good. Will they know their home port, or is that just when they are stationed at a base and not on deployment? I'm sorry to be dense. It feels like I'm learning a new language and culture...I guess in fact, I am!
Dustin's Mom: Yes they will let them know when they are going to Deploy....I read up on this ship and it seems they hold the record for long deployments, and they go out often.
Dustin's Mom- We were told the general direction the ship is going but no exact destinations until they are in a port.
Hi everyone...glad to meet you all. My son just started A school in GL. He received his next orders and said he will be coming home for 2 weeks before heading to his next destination.
Hello my son finished A school in August, his was about 9 weeks after the wait for a full class and he only got 2 weeks off before he needed to report to his first duty station. He is now on his first deployment.
I got to visit awhile with my son tonight. He said that next week he fills out a "dream sheet" and then should find out pretty soon after that what his orders will be. He has been in holding since last week but his actual class starts Tuesday. He's ready. He has been going to class each day, but classes on Financial Planning and Sexual Harrassment....not the cool stuff he is going to do for a living. He makes me laugh! I'm a little worried because he's still sick...allergy/cold stuff. He frustrates me because he thinks he will get over it instead of just getting to the doctor and getting some medicine. Why are guys like that???? I get sick, I go see a doctor and get over it! I have things to do! I guess it is the Venus/Mars thing. Anyway...I'm hoping for the 3-4 week leave rather than two, though I would be happy with anything! Night everyone!
I think leave is 3-4 weeks. A few weeks into A school they find out where they will be stationed
Thank you so much - all this is so confusing. When my SR left she said she her A-School was in Virginia - NOT.. lol - thankful for this site
