1fireteamwife:  My son was asmoed when at bc...for a week. He reconnected to another division after that and did great.  I thought it was the "end of the world" when he made that call to me to say he was asmoed, but it turned out that it worked to his advantage--so it can be a good thing!

Uh...Pensacola not Pansacola!

ria5 - Thank you! He chose IT for his rating. Right now "A" school will be in Pansacola, Florida. But that could change! One thing I learned about the military over the past 20 + years is that NOTHING is set in stone until you see the actual paperwork! Even then sometimes...!

The other is: "Hurry up and...wait!"

Yeah, my son said the same thing. He only had three weeks to prep before going. He's concerned about getting held back, ASMOed,(okay ladies what are the actual words for the acronym, Navy speak doesn't have it),not for the physical part, but the "other" stuff. He didn't have a lot of time to elaborate, said he'll write. While that would not be "fun", better held back than discharged, I say. At least you still know the Navy wants you. I'm sure quite a few are feeling this way. The "tearing down" is going on! Got to be difficult.

Everytime I think about it, that part in "Pearl Harbor" comes to mind when the cook gets on the anti-aircraft machine gun and starts "doing what needs to be done". When it "hits the fan" you have to be able to function. For the team. Phooey, I need to take my own advice ;-) LOL.

fireteamwife- I am glad your SR sounded better today! My boyfriend also called his mom for the same security clearance reasons and such. They both are in the same ship and division I see! Where does he plan to go to A school?

Plus he talked to him mom a little while ago, just briefly about his security clearance and she said that he sounded tired, and that he said that it was a lot harder than he thought it would be but he is hanging in there!

Hi All,

Got another call from SR! This time for the security clearance references. Didn't know it would happen so fast. Have I been reading about it? Yes. Did I connect that I should probably get it ready? No. And you know how much time they get on the phone. Of course, under pressure niether one of us could think and it ended up being stressful. Not the best way to end a call. Crud, he sounded much better today

SO, just to let everyone know - If your SR has a rating that will need security clearance, be ready with names, addresses and phone numbers. I'm guessing you will be called today too, if you haven't already.

Just sent my youngest for the mail and FINALLY got the form letter. I already knew the ship/div but PIR is now confirmed too for 2011/05/27. He said,"Say hello to the dogs for me!" What a goof...dang dogs! We all love them!

Take Care!

got my form letter today. In his space he said he loved us and missed us all. Asked me to tell his GF he loved her. Asked us to pray for him and stay strong. It was nice!
