I'm a Sailor calls usually start in about 2 hours or so...phones ON your bodies so you don't miss them!

Wow, thanks clockard.  We have never been corrected on that and have never heard of anyone getting in trouble for a shoulder strap.  Hmmm....also good to know that the colors can be Black OR Navy.  Not sure what qualifies as a hand-carried bag...do you know?  My son had a small duffel that he carried on his flight to duty station, on one shoulder, with no issues.  Hmmmm.....

Ladies, I think this might be a question for RTC FB.  So if someone wants to ask on there if they can have a black or navy backpack (plain) or small duffel to carry on the plane to A School, please post the reply.  Thanks!

OMG, I totally understand how you feel ProudNaVyMom. Didn't go to sleep till midnight (pst) and then up at 4:30. Its going to be a long day. I can't wait to get that "mack daddy" call!!! See ya all in GL! whoohoo

Good morning N4M!!!!  Hope all of you got better sleep than I did last night.  I kept looking at the clock thinking, "I wonder what they're doing now?" until 2:00 this morning.  When I woke up at 5:00 the same thing started up as soon as I opened my eyes.  They should just be finishing up right now, hopefully getting their Navy caps in a few minutes.  While I have been anxious for phone calls this is the mack daddy of phone calls.  I want to hear from his lips that he is a U.S. Sailor!!!

Hope all of you have a great day today and safe travels to Great Lakes.  Hope to meet all of you at PIR!!!!

joan:  I don't think a black lap top case/briefcase would be a problem..they have to carry their seabag and garment bag (both of these are checked baggage) through the airports, so we usually suggest that whatever they "carryon" has a shoulder strap so it can be "hands free" when they are carrying all of their gear.

texasmom:  No, you don't need the back pack in that case.

Thank you Dianne, I am so excited to see him. I have really been worried these last few days, thinking of all bad things have dreams and I just can't wait to get there so I can relax.  All the time frames etc.. make me crazy. If our SR doesn't want anything do we need a back pack?
