Justin&Ryan'sMom:  Yes, you should be able to use your gate passes then.  I know you can leave your car on base on PIR day and pick it up later. You can ask when you go through security on PIR day about the other days...not sure about that.

Sonia:  Your SR should have "handwritten" the password in the letter OMG mentioned...the original form letter.  You should be able to print out this gate pass now if you have that password.  It is not allowed to be shared so I hope you have it.  Here is the link to print your gate pass (type password in ALL CAPS):

http://www.bootcamp.navy.mil/upcoming_grads.asp

ProudNavyMom:  That sounds rather limited.  Although they sometimes have limited time if their new sailor has watch.  For those moving over to GL A School base right after PIR, they would then be under the authority of that A School as far as liberty time.

laurelbc:  Yep, pink eye is one of the dreaded illnesses at bc.  They are not allowed to go through BattleStations with it.  My son said several in his division were held back because of it (thankfully he had it earlier in bc) but they were able to go through with another division.  They treat it and it responds pretty quickly.

texasmom:  I know the feeling of not knowing their travel.  We had booked for the whole weekend before he told us he was flying out on Sat when my son was there.  We just did some sightseeing after he left.  Remember, sometimes their travel plans can be changed...so we always recommend that you plan to stay longer just in case.  How awful to have to say goodbye to your new sailor because of changed plans!  So try and stay until at least Sat, since you are a Thurs PIR.

I've read about parents going to PIR and having only 2 hours per day with their SR for 2-3 consecutive days.  Does anyone know what that's all about???

texasmom:  I can understand your frustration.  I have asked my SR and he doesn't know his travel plans yet.  I know since he's going to CT he's supposed to be leaving on Friday morning.  I'm hoping he can't get a flight until Saturday morning ;-)  We're staying until Saturday regardless.  It would be nice to know something definite before you get up there, I agree.  Good luck with finding out.

laurelbc:  I'm so sorry about your son and pink eye.  I hope and pray that he will be able to participate in BS with his division.  At least if he can't go on Thursday there's either one or two more BS that he can go through and still graduate with his division.  I'll be hoping for the best.

Does anyone know if DIV 179 is a grad and go?  I still haven't heard from my SR as to weather he is leaving Friday morning to go to A school or if he will get to have a few days before leaving.  I don't want to hang around chicago for two extra days if he is going to be there but, if he is going to be there I don't want to go home earlier. I hate the not knowing.  :)

Justin&RyansMom- you will need the pass all weekend, anytime you drive onto the base. You need it to take your Sailor back on Thursday night and to pick them up on Friday if they get liberty on Friday. I am not sure if they will let you park there all day but you could ask on Thursday when you go through the check in.

And, Pink eye is very contagious but clears up quickly  with the medication/eye drops.

The very first letter that came after your SR left. The form letter that he was able to write a note at the end. In that letter it has a pass word so you can print out a parking Pass for PIR. If you are taking a shuttle you will not need it. If you are driveing you will. It tells you what website to go to to print the pass...I think they were on lock down after Osoma was killed but I have not heard anything sence.

Not sure if this has been answered or not - Can we use our parking passes on days other than PIR Day to park on the base, for example we plan on taking the train into Chicago and would like to park on the base and leave the car there while gone into town on Friday.

going first thing.  That stuff must be contagious.  Hope we don't give it to each other here on N4M (lol)
