This is the final test for your SRs.  It is an overnight 12 hr drill that tests them on all they have learned and may encounter when deployed on a ship.  It takes place on the Disney-created USS…Continue

Has anyone heard from their SR today?  I got a call yesterday from my son and all was well.  I just missed a call from an "847" number and I'm frantic!!!  Why would he call two days in a row unless something happened?????  Please let me know something!  This worrying will kill me.

TODAY IS MAY 1st!!!  I'm sure all of you know what day it is as well.  Seems like it took a long time to get here.  I have the 26th highlighted in fluorescent yellow highlighter so I can see it from everywhere.  How glorious it will be to put all of those Xs on the calendar leading up to that day!  Every time we look at the calendar from now on we will see the 26th!  I'm just way, way too excited about this!!!  To top that off with another long phone call...I think I died and went to heaven!  I hope all of you have a spectacular day today!!!

Virginia found out the hard way on the cards....yep!  We usually caution you all not to send alot of cards.  They DO draw attention.  Much better to stick with ordinary letters/scanned pictures on a sheet of paper in plain envelopes, normal thickness.  They won't get in trouble for the number of letters they receive, but can get razzed for the TYPE of letter/card received when it draws attention.  We even advise not to send colored envelopes.

And for SURE do not make the mistake of sending a SINGING card.  Oh my...

Yeah.. I am REALLY embarrassed but I imagine this sort of thing happens all the time. Save the more, ahem, scandolous lines for non-descript mail. :)

Well I got a call, but because he had told me I probably wasn't going to get another one, I wasn't near my phone. But I do have the voice mail! and I've played it over and over and over again... I sure do miss him!

Virginia-thanks!

That stinks. I'll try to make a "balanced" ton! Or I'll right a "safe" short message in them and save anything else for a letter.

@fireteamwife... be aware that the cards will draw attention to your SR.  I learned the hard way that your SR might not be the only one who gets to read the content of the card.

1fireteamwife: event works, the RDCs call everything 'evolutions' in boot camp, but it's the same thing.

Got a call today!  Sooooo happy to hear his voice, and soooo glad that it was a longer call!  Husband says div. 928 is doing just fine, and next week is a rough week for them.  So happy to see that other folks got calls, too!  Only 25 more days!  EEP!

Awwww...thanks ProudNavyMom!

And, pink eye is common in bootcamp.  My son got it also when he was there, but thankfully not at BattleStations time.  Yes, bc is a breeding ground for germs, for sure.  My son was never one to get sick...and he got sick when there too...thankfully, just had light duty for a day or so and then was ok.  Glad your son has the swimming behind him with a potential ear infection going on!  Hope that clears up soon!  So glad you got to talk to him!

1fireteamwife:  There is the Navy Pier that many go to also.  It was closed when we were there because it was winter.  And, yes, RTC is separate from GL base but right next to it. Also...I'm sure your son will get that run passed once he is feeling a bit stronger.  I think sending the ton of cards is an excellent idea!  He needs the encouragment in this homestretch!

So glad that so many got calls today!
