D for Megan:  Thanks for all of your info on here to the ladies going through this!  We veteran moms love to have an active duty sailor here to answer the questions that we have no clue about.  I am learning alot from your advice so I know how to advise others in the other PIR groups....thanks so much!  And thanks for your service to our country!

Ladies waiting for calls:  When that call finally does come (and it is all up to the individual RDCs as far as if/when they can call...)....and you see "pay phone" and/or 847 area code in the caller ID....well, HAPPY DANCE time!  It truly will do your heart good and you will be able to relax a bit.  So hang in there!

D for Megan:  Thank you so much for the information.  I know that I shouldn't be worrying about call.  I realize that he's in a good place and and working hard to be where he wants to be.  But I'm just a mom who has never been out of contact with her son.  I know that I will get a call sooner or later.  It's just a little more challenging than I thought it would be.  Thanks again for the heads up!

Most divisions start out with around 80. This number can vary throughout the 8 weeks, with most divisions graduating at somewhere between 60 and 80. As for the phone calls, it depends on the RDCs. Sometimes they will allow single SRs to make a call as a reward, to motivate the rest of the division. Other times it can be the entire division gets a chance to go to 'Ricky Heaven', an area attached to the NEX that has a lot if phone booths and give everyone a chance to call. Of course, time is limited and there aren't enough phones for everyone to call at once so the SRs have to share. It all depends on how well the division or individual SR does on particular events.

D for Megan, Thanks for the info. I know he is in perfect hands. I just want to hear about all the things he is learning. How many people are in each division? Just curious, do they send a portion to make calls and then the next weekend they send the portion?

Something to keep in mind; not all divisions are given a chance to call home. If it hadn't been for me needing to call home for security clearance information, I wouldn't have been able to speak with anyone until around week 5. However, anyone that hasn't yet received mail should be very soon. The saying 'no news is good news' rings true (pardon the pun) in this case, where phone calls are concerned. The first few times I called home, my mom was worried that I had been set back a week or so, and honestly other than calling about clearances, or the occasional lucky SR that gets to call home as a reward, the majority of calls out of RTC are to inform of setbacks of some kind. This doesn't mean that you shouldn't hope for a call or be worried when one comes in, just be aware that you might be waiting for awhile.

Hello ladies (and gentlemen if there are any)!

I'm trying to be upbeat but this no phone call thing has got me just about running up the walls.  I thought for sure by now we will have heard something.    Maybe we will get our call this weekend.  That would be the perfect present that the Easter Bunny could bring me (oh, besides tons of chocolate)!!!!!  Hope you are all doing good today.  We are one day closer to PIR!!!

If any of you get a phone call please be sure and share the info.  I want to be able to share in your joy!!!

Have a good one!

Don't know if anyone else has run into this yet, but my SR is wanting to invite more than the allotted four on the form letter. I knew from my own experience that if there were other recruits in the training group that were not going to use all four of their spots that they could be divied up among the rest. I also just found out today that as long as there is room at the ceremony, they will not turn away anyone with a valid ID. Since this training group is pretty small, only seven divisions, there shouldn't be an issue for any extras that are not on the list.

OMG, My son graduated from BC in December and I'm still on here every day. Don't worry, we are all perfectly normal.  :)
