I can answer that part.  He will continue to get the BAH.

As a matter of fact my son got married just before he was flown to the ship and they changed his to the married rate.  His wife had to return to Japan to await her green card.  The BAH was the only easy one.  They changed that on the marriage certificate.  They required her birth certificate to add her to medical and Japan does not issue birth certificates.  He had to go to legal and get her a power of attorney for her to finish everything at the base in Japan.  Japan has a family registry called a Koseki.  She had to get it updated with her marriage to him and all our information before she could get a copy for the navy.

Hi Kim,It is a deployment..and yes Matt and my daughter in law do get BAH...don't know as of now if they will still get BAH when she returns to Pgh...I can only hope so...,she wants to go back to school while she is home... Thank you so much for looking into that for me..

Is this a Permanent Change of Station (PCS) or just deployment?  I thought you said deployment only.  Was he getting Basic Allowance for Housing (BAH)?  If so, he will still get that.

army navy mom, Here is your answer:

"He needs to contact PPO (personal property office) and find the latest policy.  From what I know, the answer is no.  The Navy does offer long term storage, but it usually is in conjunction with PCS orders, not deployment.  I also know things change, so he needs to ask".
