We leave on Thursday to go our sailor Hooyah !! We r very fortunate we are able to see him 1 more time before he goes to Japan in May and it's his 20th birthday on Saturday so it's even better. Hope everyone's doing good .

My husbands bunk mate from bootcamp is leaving Pensacola tomorrow. This is the first taste of separation from a good military friend. I have to say, I'm super sad! Obviously, we knew they wouldn't be close forever, but still! His friend is heading home, then heading for his first duty station (Virginia). Now Tom hopes that we get sent to Virginia too so they can be close again.

It's amazing to see how close their friendship is. I love hearing them talk about basic and school and everything. They've been together for the last five months, and just don't know what to do without each other now! Just melts my heart!

Okay.  So he called Thursday and said he has "comped ATT".  (That means completed.  He really enjoys speaking 'navy' so I have to ask him "what does that mean?" all the time.  I think it's payback for all the times I've spoken 'nurse'.)  He said INDOC for A school was going to be the next day.  He sounded really on his game again....  Focused and fired up!  I'm excited for him.

yea he told me MANDO is mandatory study hall...  he got a 92 on an exam and didn't have to go. oh he just texted....  going to the Beach ... then texted me a pic of the beach UGH... the life...  hahahah glad he's loven Navy Life...

Comment by jacqueline-rn on April 6, 2012 at 7:12pm

Mine is having a little trouble maintaining focus as well.  He's doing MANDO also.  Or, I guess that's what it's called.  It just sounds like study hall to me.  This part is hard for a lot of them I think.  They're young, they're bored.  Knowing what can happen in those curcumstances in less supervised college settings (not that I have any personal experience, you understand) I guess I'm glad he's in the Navy!

gmansmom....  uh oh.. sounds like class is BORING.. it will get better... My sailor is near the top of his class but STILL has as he calls it MANDO (nite study)  he is in week 4 and next week i think he starts some hands on stuff.... i told him that is when the fun begins... he supposed to come home on leave in May and go back for OPS school...   can't wait to see him.
