Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

But as soon as I get home from work I check the mailbox, even if my husband has been home for hours and has clearly already checked the mail. Well, you never know. He might have missed something. Okay. I know. I'm the Charlie Brown of Navy moms. Good grief!

Comment by Snickerdoodlemom on November 26, 2011 at 8:56pm: My story of how he told me he was joining: For 3 years in high school he planned on being a teacher, that was his dream...he loved school and wanted to go back and teach at the high school or the Jr. High where he went. I also worked for the school for many years and he is close personal friends with many of his former teachers. One day he comes home from School and says "Mom, I am not going to go through all the schooling and getting his credentials to continuously get "pink slipped" every May" I SOOOO understood that. I said what do you want to do? He replied "I am going to speak to the Marine Recruiter" I was a bit surpised, but not shocked..my family is a Marine family anyway (my Dad and Sister) He saw the Marine recruiter and DID NOT like the guy. So, he marched right over to the Navy office...and here we are.

ABSOLUTELY NOTHING... yup not a thing, played xbox 24/7... trying to gain the 10 pounds he needed BEFORE he could even sign up.... maybe sitting for soooo long makes him enjoy boot.. think he was going stircrazy towards the end.. hahah

Ok.. story about telling me he wants to join... He was 14.. said I wanna be in the navy... I said "SERIOUSLY? or are you messing with me?" he said "Yea, i wanna join" i was overjoyed.. fast forward to the end of his junior year when colleges come to the school for career day ... he brings home Navy information... all about the EOD program. (not my plan for him to go right into the thick of the war) I said "OH" fast forward to High School Senior Night.. they announce his name and that his plans are to Join the US Navy... i cried...

He joined in April of his senior year of high school and spent 7 months in the dep program. I had plenty of time to get used to the idea.

Wow...the night before. I don't know how I would handle that for sure.
