Good Morning all! One quick question, what type of callings cards to you give/send your SR's? What is a good amount dollar wise to send?
I wouldn't worry about using colored paper too much. especially now that you will be sending one or two letters in each envelope. They take the letters back to their rack and read them there. They only have to open them in front of of an RDC if they are large or a package. Most of them won't give them a hard time at all for colored paper or colored envelopes. :-)
For the Navy Lodge, just call them direct and tell them you are coming in for PIR. They will put the room in your recruits name and ask you to have him/her stop by the front desk after PIR but they don't really enforce that once you are there. Ask them at the front desk and they will give you a temporary pass to shop at the Nex (without your Sailor) which is just don't the street.
disneyfans: We always recommend that you all plan to stay until Sunday just in case your SR is there for the weekend. Normally they fly out on Sat, but sometimes Sunday. Just make sure that NavyLodge knows you are there for PIR. You give them the name of your sailor. Lala probably will have more info on this since she stayed there. She knows exactly what to do!
Snickerdoodlemom- Yeah ! Glad to hear you got the form letter. So was the previous info you had correct? DIV.038
I forgot a funny-just had dinner w/ my youngest (lives w/ dad). She commented on how neat g's writing was too. Then when he wrote a little on the back it was still his sloppy writing :)
diannep: I sent a big envelope with a bunch of letters. Some of them are on colored paper. I didn't know that would be a problem. I was just having fun. I hope he doesn't get in trouble.
Snickerdoodle-yippeee!!!!! What ship & div??
FTLW-again, awesome! I'm going to try & figure them out!!!
Question regarding Navy Lodge and PIR, I just looked at the site as SR parents are we allowed to stay there for PIR weekend? It said something about family can stay as long as enlisted checks them in??? For PIR on 1/13, do most people come in on the 12th and leave on the 14th, or longer? We live only about 1.5 hours away.
Snick, So glad that you got your letter.
Betsy and Kev, I was so excited to get a call- hope everyone can look forward to one soon.
Signing off, everyone. Have a nice night!
