Ken'sMom, I totally understand about MOCO.  My hubby doesn't like his commute now and it will be worse when we move.  But we know that we don't want to live in PG, MO or H Counties.  We can get a really nice house in Carroll County for about $100,000 less than a comparable one in Howard County.  It's a no brainer, for us now.

navymomfromCT, Woohoo getting your form letter!  It all depends on where/when they will ship out to their A school.  We always recommend making plans to stay for the weekend, just in case.  I have heard nice things about the Navy Lodge as well, although I stayed at the Residence Inn.

Rexy, Doesn't it make your heart happy when you get a surprise call?

I got my form letter.....he sounds good......great to see his writing.....cried like a baby when I read it over and over again.....i want to start making reservations....is the navy lodge okay to stay at?  Don't know whether to fly back Sat. morning or Sat. night or Sunday....Do most of the sailors get the weekend off?

Comment by Rexy on November 22, 2011 at 3:56pm

Just got a phone call from my son.  It was for background info for his security clearance.  He said he got all my letters yesterday.  He said to write more.  I am so excited I could scream.

Comment by Rexy on November 22, 2011 at 2:52pm

I have read the note my son wrote on his form letter about 30 times.  He says he likes it and has made friends so that brings me such comfort.  I am just so happy to see his handwriting.

Thanks diannep,  Springhill looks nice :)  I think I will look around a bit

NavyBear:  There are very mixed reviews about the Ramada.  Some complain of a smell in some rooms, some say it was fine.  So, hit or miss it is!  Many stay there because of the MeetNGreet, but now that Sarge has his near the Residence, Springhill, Courtyard, many are staying in those hotels also.

Comment by KensMoM (09/042 ~ PIR 1/13/2012) on November 22, 2011 at 1:18pm

@Betsy ~ LOL now that our son has graduated from these damn Montgomery County schools....we are actually looking to buy a house up that way...on the 70 corridor between Baltimore and Frederick.....Hubby used to work in DC till walter reed closed down, now he is at Ft. Deitrick!  Can't afford to stay in MOCO...it's sucking our savings dry!

Comment by NavyBear7 on November 22, 2011 at 1:06pm

We booked the Ramada for PIR, a gal on the Boot Camp page posted that it is ghetto...anyone know anything about it?  I decided to read some reviews and it seems to be hit and miss...I dont want to be in a crappy hotel :\
