A Push Division is usually made up of recruits that arrive in one week but are held up in P-Days because there are not enough recruits to fill the Division. So they stay in P-Days until more recruits arrive to complete the Division. The recruits that arrive later have shorter P-Days and so are "pushed" forward a week and are at RTC for about 7 1/2 weeks rather than 8 1/2 that others in the Division and others who arrive on the same day.

Basically they are in BC less than others. They have time to get everything done though. During BC there are actually only six weeks of training. The rest is in processing, Battlestations and PIR.

Alicia:  So glad that your older son didn't experience this!  My son, a clean freak as far as showering, said this was at night, and they were SO tired, that they all hit their racks drenched in sweat...and he didn't even care about showering!  I knew then that he must have been beyond exhausted if he skipped a shower!!!.  He felt bad for the guy, not angry with him.  I hope others felt the same way as the guy felt bad enough and I bet never did whatever he did again!

And, you are correct in push divisions being the last ones to be filled!

Diannep, thank you for clarifying regarding IT. I shouldn't have made it sound like there was absolutely no IT in a push division.  Though, my oldest didn't have anything close to what you describe below, which is making ME tear up this morning.

Mitch's_mom, my understanding of a push division is that it's the last division to fill for their training group. Those arriving toward the end of that group filling can be at boot camp almost a full week less than those in one of the first divisions to fill.

Mitch's_mom:  Some worry when they find out their SRs are in a push division.  But no need to.  It just means they have a few less days to get all done, but they get there!   Haven't heard that they have no IT (punishment) in these divisions though.  There is IT in every division---just maybe less in the push divisions or of shorter duration.  When my son was there, one of his shipmates did something wrong.  The entire division, except for the "offender," had to do 2 hrs of bear crawls, etc for this mistake, with the poor guy sitting there made to watch his shipmates suffer.  My son said the guy was eventually in tears knowing that HE should be the one paying the price.  It is not only physical punishment, but a "mind" game for them....to reinforce that this is teamwork and when a team member messes up, all can pay for it....

Good Morning All !

Alicia 9, thank you. I am so excited. Is there anything else I need to know about him most likely being in a push division? Happy to hear he may not have to do punishment PT :) How do they determine if your going to be in a push division? Is it just luck?

AprilB,

Really??  Navy Lodge just started the shuttle about a 1 1/2 months ago!  Guess it wasn't panning out for them,  Thanks for updating us~~

Mitch's_mom, it does sound like your SR is in a push division--very lucky. My oldest son was in a push division when he went through boot camp. He said it made a big difference. One reason being that there wasn't time for assigning PT as a punishment. They were too busy catching up.
