~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.
~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.
~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.
~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:
• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:
• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.
Some Suggestions:
~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.
~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option
~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Yes, Proud Sailor Mom. Sad but true...if they miss their own PIR due to failure of a test which they don't pass before their own PIR, they don't get a PIR. They keep trying to pass it in the FIT group...they usually get about 12 chances (3x wk) from what I have been told....once they pass, they do BattleStations and head straight to A School. If they don't pass in the time period allotted, they are discharged.
Fingers crossed/prayers going for her to pass it before her own PIR!
My son is on ship 09 div 066. We haven't received a call as of yet. Hopefully no news is good news. We are heading out to Great Lakes tomorrow morning and will be traveling all day. Finger crossed and sending prayers to all!
My thoughts and prayers are with you all...please remember to light your blue candles. I too am waiting for my little SR to call, I've been a mess since yesterday around 3pm. Here's a little saying I read often, it makes me feel better.
Life isn't meant to be easy, it's meant to be LIVED.
Sometimes happy,
other times rough..
But with every up and down
you learn lessons
that make you STRONG.
I've learned so many lessons the past 8 weeks, and patience is one of the biggest. I realize that my little SR is much tougher than I ever thought she was. She has the determination and the drive to reach her goal. If not now, then hopefully with the next group. I thank you one and all for being here, I have a new family and it consists of Sea Sisters. Together we will make it thru whatever is in our path!
Kathy
Tyler's mom, I am sorry for what you are going through! I wish you the best. I hope you get better news soon.
If their determination is based on an EKG that they gave him during processing then maybe he can get another one done to confirm the presence of heart block. If its a soft call then hopefully he can request another opinion from a cardiologist.
Tyler's mom... I'm so sorry your recruit (and his family) are going through this. It must be disappointing for him, but I pray he will find that perfect niche. This is such a stressful time to begin with. I wish there was something more profound that I could say. Please know you are all in our thoughts and prayers.
My SR passed everything, Battle Stations included, but right after Battle Stations he was informed that he was DQ'd from Special Ops because he has a second degree heart block. It is my understanding that this came from somewhere in Washington, D.C. He called us on Monday afternoon to let us know. He is so distraught, angry, & confused. He had not slept since Saturday night due to Battle Stations and now the stress of being DQ'd from something that he had his heart set on. Why is he just now being told this? He has never been told that he has any heart issue. He had a thorough exam 2 years ago prior to a surgery and had absolutely no issues. Nothing was discovered at MEPs. I don't believe it. He saw a civilian doctor on December 17th and was given the all clear. Did the person making this determination in DC have the report from the civilian doc? If there was a problem then why was he left in Div 806? We have soooo…many questions. No thorough testing has been done to support any of this supposed heart issue. We are up in the air as to what to do now. He was told that he can choose something different. We contacted his recruiter who called someone and was given a little information. He was told that our son wants to stay in the Navy, but doesn't know what he wants to do now or what he will qualify for. We have not received an I'm a Sailor call. Even though he has met the criteria to be a Sailor I guess he can't be declared one until he chooses a different program that he now qualifies for (?) We have no idea. We have a four night hotel reservation that I need to cancel ASAP. I don't have $750 to spend for nothing. How do I find out what is going on???
Proud Sailor Mom, I know your daughter will come out of this much stronger and will regain her standing very shortly. The hardest part is probably not being able to talk to you longer and explain. I don't know if this will help, but I always try to think that there is a reason and keep faith that it works out for the best. I agree that they are AMAZING young people!
