~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

I'm from AZ and my son is in Ship 14 Div 062.  Have been concerned about the cold weather with him, but was assured from my background in the military that he would have the warm clothing needed and if it got really cold, as it did, that they would not let them be outside.  The weather forecast is looking good for the Chicago area next week, so I'm confident that all of our flights will get in there and we will see our SRs PIR on the 17th.  His letters sound more confident and mature with each one that I get.  While he says it is hard work, he is making friends with his shipmates and working together they will meet the challenges of boot camp.

Ok guys, weather looking a little better for when we go to Chicago! Praying for all our SRs and all of you as we get through these last 9 days!!!

Hopefully there will be a break in the weather and you all will have no problems with flights or driving. Just be glad you are not going this week, it is a real mess.

I know we all worry about them staying warm while in boot camp but they give them all the proper clothing for that kind of weather and all the training is done in doors. They should be just fine :)

No worries about the SRs being warm.  They make them bundle up totally, and don't let them go out if it is too bad.  My son is a S. FL boy and even he said when he was there, he would almost get hot because their clothing is so warm (he was there Dec-Feb).

Good Morning All !  Still below 0 up there right now...messing with BattleStations/I'm a Sailor calls for the PIR 01/10 group.  Lots of worries by those ladies on here!  Prayers for all!

LOL @ Jamom, mine worked for the Atlanta Braves Minor league team last summer and hated the heat, I bet after BC he doesn't complain about a Georgia summer again.  LOL   I will see ya next week.

We are leaving next Thursday from San Diego to GL...I can't even imagine that kind of cold weather...just may have to buy some new warm weather clothes! I am also worried about not being away to fly in or out...really praying for better weather and especially that my SR is staying warm. At home he lives in flip flops and shorts so snow is a new one for him! Safe travels for those heading out there this week!

Too all getting that call this week.."I'm a sailor"  CONGRATS.  My prayers for a safe trip to PIR for all going this week.

Anyone else worry about not getting a flight due to weather? I'm from CA and stressing that I will not be able to fly in for PIR! Pray weather permits flight plans!

PoodleLady and Labradoodles my daughter's letter talked about her new friends as well. The fantastic 4 as they like to call themselves. They were having a lot of fun trying to figure out which moms knew each other on this website. My daughter can not wait for me to meet her new friends. Knowing we have all leaned on each other makes me feel happy knowing they have done the same thing. Nice to know they have made such good friends in BC. Prayers for all our SR's for all the upcoming tests they will go through. Can't wait to meet you ladies next week :))
