Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

He will be speaking with someone today regarding what comes next. I belive he said he is moving out of his ship today also. I wish you and your sailor recruits all the best.

I have been looking for a group for separated recruits, but they all seem to be inactive. Does anyone know of a good one?

Comment by ellen0502 on December 17, 2013 at 12:35pm: No hearts breaking bikerbabe55. The only reason it says not confirmed is because the RTC hasn't confirmed the divisions or total number of divisions for this TG.

The total number of divisions in a TG is what determines the number of guests for PIR. So, with no confirmation, although it is pretty clear from the form letters received for the next group, we can't say for certain there will be four guests allowed at PIR. That's the only reason for the statement.

Comment by diannep on December 16, 2013 at 9:52pm: 1proudmama: Go on "no news is good news" as far as his sickness....he will call you if he is asmoed (setback) in training, which would mean a new PIR date. Like ellen said, most work through the illness without being setback ....and most get sick at some point! But they are training to be sailors so are tough! :-) Hope your SR feels better soon!
