~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Stormy, He leaves Christmas morning, but that's ok, he got to come home. He goes back to allow the next one to go home for the New Year. We will celebrate Christmas on the Sunday before.

ellen0502, what an AWESOME surprise! Can't get much better than that for Christmas!

How very cool!  Will he get to stay for the Holidays?

Good morning! My son, who has been stationed in Japan since June, was sent to the Philippines with Operation Damayan. I haven't talked with him since he left, other than a couple FB chats and emails, and leaves were postponed for the holidays due to their helping with the relief. I was very sad that he wouldn't be home for the holidays, but very proud of him and what the others were doing.

Yesterday, much to my surprise, he walked in my front door and said Merry Christmas mom. It's going to be a good Christmas. :)

My daughter is also Ship 14, Div 062, but as of yesterday, we still have not received a letter. Hopefully today!!!! Very anxious to hear how she is doing! StrongSolidSecureNM, will your daughter be staying there for A school? Mine will.

Ask your sailors about the "assembly line" way of showering!  My son was one who loved his long showers pre-Navy...well, those abruptly stopped, in addition to lots of company in the showers.  Also, he was always a very private "bathroom" person..that stopped too and sometimes he and his bunkmates had their best conversations when sitting side side on the johns!  Lots of changes are going on for your SRs....but when you see them on PIR day, you will realize they are good ones!  Also, don't be surprised when you drive off base if your new sailor is quiet and in deep thought.  My chatterbox son was...I asked what was going on and his reply was:  Mom, this is the first time I am seeing the area where I have been for the past 2.5 mos (he was asmoed for a week and also had Thanksgiving/Christmas/New Years Day holidays in there which made for a little longer bootcamp experience)...I'm just taking it all in.  They have been told what to do and what not to do for so long that it takes a while for them to get acclimated again to making their own decisions.  I loved seeing the changes in him though...so---- look forward to a wonderful PIR experience!

Glad you got such a great letter, StrongSolidSecure!  Warms the heart, doesn't it?

Good Morning All!

I. Got a letter! Ship 14 div 62. My daughter says all is well. 80 some females in her division. Letter states no privacy, working hard, and learning when to be quiet! She says she has made close friends and somemwillm be in A school with her. Bottom line she says all is well. I'm content!

I also wrote letters to some recruits in my daughter's division who were not receiving mail and they wrote me back :) We got to meet them at PIR and took them off base with us and had dinner with them and hung out at the mall. they were super sweet. hard to understand why their own families weren't writing to them :(

Sorry I was MIA yesterday. Our internet was down most of the afternoon and evening. I just thought it was out from the server but apparently we overloaded the breaker with Christmas lights lol :)

I won't be here much for the next few days, we leave in the morning to go to VA to see our Sailors and deliver the gifts to kids who have a parent deployed on the USS Harry S Truman aircraft carrier. I can't wait to see their faces :) This has been a wonderful project :)
