~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.
~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.
~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.
~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:
• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:
• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.
Some Suggestions:
~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.
~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option
~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

I heard from my grandson yesterday was so glad to here from him.. he voice sounded with laughter.. and it made me laugh to to hear that.. didnt getto talk long because .. he needed to call his mom and dad.. but so thankful he remember to call me .. we r very closeturly miss him.. but will c him n Jan for grad 17th
Blue candles are burned in honor of your SRs/sailors...anytime you are thinking of them, maybe going through a test, deployed. Whatever you want! Just an outward sign!
I heard from my SR son yesterday. We were only able to talk for about 5 minutes. He said he is doing well and making friends in his group. Told me not to worry about him, so I won't too much.
armymomnavyson- I'm wondering if that was my husband? Not sure how many married E-1's there are in their division. I'll have to ask him in the letter. Your son did a very nice thing.
armymomnavy: Not sure how the RDC's take that, but his reason was sure a good one, in my opinion! That is a high responsibility position (the top for a SR) and so good for him to allow some other SR to have it for possible advancement. I wouldn't worry about it....sounds like he is doing just fine! :-)
I got a call from my SR yesterday. He called his girlfriend on Thanksgiving but I got this one :) He talked and talked. It was so good to hear his "very hoarse" voice. He too is catching a cold. He sounded great. Said he passed his swim test (not surprised though as he swam all his life). He said he was able to take the 2nd class swim test??? even though his job didn't require it. He also said they started receiving mail on Friday and was mailing letters today. One thing he said was he volunteered for AROC right away but asked to be removed and was. He said that he's already E3 and can't advance any further in bc so he wanted to give another guy who was E1 and married a chance to advance. Does anyone know how the RDC's take someone who "quits". I didn't want to make a big deal of it when he was talking but I'm curious.
PoodleLady, I'm from the Chicago area and it really does get that cold! They are dressed warm enough though. My SR called yesterday and actually complained about how much they have to put on when they go out! Mask (fogs up his glasses), gloves, scarf. They are fine. Don't worry :)
Chelle15187, I'm so sorry you missed your husband's call :( I don't have any words of wisdom but I will keep you and your husband in my prayers that you will connect soon. I know they don't have any control over when they call. There are certain days they will call though. Is there a work number that he could try?
