Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Unfortunately she said she used much of her time getting a calling card. :( she said she was preparing for a test in 6 days but didn't say what type of test. I was just so relieved she sounded great. She said she would probably call in 3 weeks. Really? That long?

Comment by PoodleLady on December 8, 2013 at 12:01am: I have a question . . .I just assumed that all the SRs in the same Ship and Div meant they were sharing the same bunk sleeping area. I've noticed that there seems to be males and females in the same Ship and Div as my SR. Will someone explain this to me . . .I'm feeling a little ignorant about this now!

Comment by TG3 on December 7, 2013 at 11:57pm: Stormy-absolutely!!!! I told him that's the only thing out of his control. It's all in Gods hands. I told my husband I won't relax until at least next Friday over it. My friend has a son in 805 and they dq'd 8 yesterday. :-/. So today we discussed it (my sr and I). And I told him whatever happens he should stay and serve his country proud. Even if he's a cook or janitor! I asked him to please write me ASAP to let me know!! Did you hear from your son today?

Comment by Stormy on December 7, 2013 at 11:49pm: TG3 - It is such a tough road these boys (men) choose and knowing that their dreams can come to end over things beyond their immediate control is so scarry. Dont you wish they could call again Monday after the physical? I guess we will go with the "no news is good news" idea.
