OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

N4M's Community Guidelines

OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

What is this 25 degree and 80 degree weather you all are talking about. It is -10 and with wind chill -24. In the last three days 25 would have been a heat wave. LOL

bikerbabe55, The Navy Lodge is not on base, but it is very close. We loved our stay there, and that was before it was remodeled.

Comment by diannep on December 7, 2013 at 1:10am

Correct, jmf!  Sadly, just for the ones staying in GL for A School.

Comment by diannep on December 7, 2013 at 1:09am

bikerbabe:  Navy Lodge is about a mile from the base....the only hotel on a base up there is Navy Gateway on the A School base.  I think you will be happy with Navy Lodge!

PoodleLady:  No specific airlines...my son flew Delta when he was there.  Just depends on what flights they can get.  As far as a specific airport for San Antonio, you can ask on the San Antonio A School group on this site what airports their sailors flew from, but no guarantee it would be the same for your sailor.

We live in NJ and are used to cold winters, but my son said he never felt cold like it was at PreBuds in GL

My husband and I have a reservation at the Navy Lodge too.
