Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Bikerbabe55 . . . .my sentiments are the same as yours! My Florida child sleeps under a blanket in the summer! She has never been in weather so cold! I hope they are staying indoors and warm!

My son as A school in Gulfport.  I  made reservations today. Leaving on Saturday. If we have to stay another night if he gets liberty on  Sunday we can do that but think they will have him leave Saturday. I'm so excited! Of course I didn't get to mail out my first letter to him today. We had 4 inches of sleet and ice!! I didn't think the mail would run so didn't put the letter out. They came really late and I didn't want to chance running out on the ice to meet her before she left  my street.  Please feel free to friend me if your loved one is on Ship 9, Div 66!! :-)

Can one of our "Veteran Members" tell me if there is a specific airlines the Navy usually uses?  I know she flew on American Airlines from home to Chicago.

Also, since I know my SR will be flying to San Antonio for A School, which of the two Chicago airports  would she most likely be flying out of on Saturday?

Knowing this could possibly help me better plan our fly home to maximize the time we have to spend with her.

Comment by Stormy on December 6, 2013 at 6:31pm

yes - assuming your PIR is January 17 - we get an extra day!!

Comment by diannep on December 6, 2013 at 3:14pm

ANewPhase is correct.  Those staying in GL for A School will have 4 days of daytime Liberty with their sailors....so try and book your flights home late Monday night or Tues if possible.  Sadly, those with sailors flying out may still have them leaving on Sat. morning.  They usually do, although we ask that you try and stay until Sunday just in case they fly home on Sunday.

I'm sorry y'all :(  Now I feel bad.  my SR called the day after Thanksgiving and then he called earlier this week, now the earlier this week call was to verify #s for security check.  l hope and pray y'all get a call this weekend.  I had open heart surgery so maybe that had something to do with the 1st call.  I got released from the hospital the day he flew up to GL.  Sailorswife721 give that baby a hug.

letter today -now time to get going on the travel arrangements

Comment by Catherine25 on December 6, 2013 at 2:43pm

Stormy- I also booked a suite for Jan 16-18. Great deal instead of having to book more than 1 room! When I called they told me they only had one left but I guess they just say that.
