OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

bikerbabe55- my daughter is also in Ship 02 Div 910!

JAmom-The way I see it from what I read is that they have so much extra training to do for PIR (and remember they will also perform the 2 Fridays before graduation for other PIR's) that they probably were practicing when others got to call home... Don't frail, they will get their chance, I'm sure! Keep your phone close you never know when the call comes...

I don't even put my phone on vibrate any more when I am in meetings!

If I get a call, I suspect I would leave everyone scratching their heads when I just make then shut up, start talking on the phone and I run out in the middle of one! lol

Looking for others in ship 03 div. 064. Can we all post our ship/divs again?

Hi everyone! My daughter is Ship 02 Division 910 and I just thought I'd chime in and say that we didn't get a call either! We did get her KIB on Monday of last week and her Form letter came on Thursday..so I feel fortunate even though it would have been great to hear her voice!

nanran02 I am glad to have a few folks on here that have children and/or loved ones in the same division. If one of us gets a call then the rest of us should....I would think anyhow. I hope to hear from my son soon and as soon as I do, I will let everyone know. Its nice to have a heads up so that you can keep an even closer eye on your phone. If you are like me, I dont leave mine behind these days.

Stormy:  Correct, phone calls are very random so keep the phone close!

Anyone get a phone call from their SR from div 910 this weekend? I was hoping to hear from my son, but nothing yet. I guess they earn the phone calls home...ugh! I like the new catch phrase, "No news is good news." Another day to check off...

Information about my son came through my daughter on Thanksgiving. I was hoping for a call on Thanksgiving but it never came. on Friday at work I got the call! He gave me his PIR. I have to admit we weren't very close growing up and then I moved out of state so his joining caught me a little off guard. But after the phone call lasting only 5 minutes totally changed our relationship. I could tell in his voice he was not himself, he sounded scared and it hurt me deeply. It took all I had not to cry. I'm counting the days until I get to see him!

Proud2BSure - I agree with you - it is so odd not knowing what is going on with my son.  Simple things such as did he have much dental work done, how do the boots fit, how are his bunk mates, the food, etc, etc etc.  I am so looking forward to his first call.   This morning in church I did not want to silense my phone, but I really had to.

I seem to recall someone saying the phone calls could come anytime - is that correct?

Ok, I will be patient and wait for "the letter". :-)  My son did call on Thanksgiving but I didn't think to ask him about his division. It was a very short call. So much to say and so little time.  I too am finding that its hard to not be a big part of his life but I'm starting to get use to it. However, it doesn't seem like he has been gone for a week. It seems like at least a month!! LOL
