~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

I know Kirikala, been reading about the phone calls, I even called my oldest daughter (they are very tight) to check if my SR decided to call her instead! lol but no luck ... maybe from all the info that I have read about the 900 DIV's (I love this website), they are already busy training for PIR :) They are going to make us proud!

My son is also part of the 910 division. I am hoping we get phone calls this Sunday.

Hello everybody!! I finally got my letter!! She is in the 910 division!

Can't wait to hear from her!! I can't wait to see her!!

This makes more sense to me now. My daughter is not musical but did have a high ASVAB score so that's probably why she ended up in this division. It's kind of funny - my first daughter who graduated boot camp in August spent her entire high school career in marching band playing two instruments and did color guard and was not in a 900 division. I'm really excited to learn more about what my SR will be doing.

Performing divisions info:

There are actually three different performing divisions that rotate. One is a working group called ships staff and they work behind the scenes with VIP's and as greeters, side boys and body snatchers. Side boys for a Receiving line for the VIP's to enter through at the start of the ceremony. Body snatchers walk up and down the isles of sailors and make eye contact and even speak to the sailors to make sure they are not about to pass out. They often lock their knees because they have to stand in one spot for such a long time. If they lock their knees it can cut off the blood flow and cause them to faint. Of course the sailor behind them does their best to catch them :) Another part of the performing divisions is the flag corps and they carry and perform with the 50 state flags during the ceremony. The third part is known as The Triple Threat. The Triple Threat is made up of the band, drill team and choir and they all perform throughout the ceremony. It is so amazing how they can pull this all off in such a short time and still accomplish all that is to be done during boot camp. They are either chosen for this division or they can volunteer for it. If they have band, flagcorps, drill team, choir, or marching experience they can volunteer. They can also be handpicked or volunteer if they have high ASVAB scores. They don't expect them to need as much time to study which gives a lot more time for practice :) Once they are in the performing DIV they may be able to try out to be a part of the Triple Threat and be in the band, choir, or drill team. I hope this helps you all understand what your recruits are doing.

All the 900 divisions are performance divisions.
Comment by JAmom on November 29, 2013 at 7:29pm

How do you know Div 910 is a performance division?

It is so good to see many of you got calls from your recruits. I hope everyone did. Sorry I was MIA the last couple of days. Our daughter brought home a nasty GI bug from college and we actually had to cancel Thanksgiving dinner. We were supposed to have close to 20 people at our home but my husband and I both got sick about 4am on Thanksgiving. So we called everyone and told them not to come. It was very sad for me because my Sailors (daughter and her hubby) and my grand baby are home from VA Beach and we didn't get to spend that time with them or with my parents and several other members of our family. I don't think I have ever been so sick so quickly. I was so sick I lost 9 pounds in 2 days. Feeling much better now and hoping to be well enough to spend the day tomorrow with my Sailors and the baby. Sunday is my sailor/daughter's birthday and they leave Sunday to go back to VA. It's killing me knowing they are only a few miles away and I can't see them because I don't want to get them sick. My 30 and 20 year old sons did end up cooking most of the thanksgiving dinner that I didn't make on Wednesday and then they made up the plates and delivered it to our family members. So I am Thankful for my wonderful kids even though I didn't get to spend Thanksgiving with them.

I saw a few questions about the ribbons, You can get as many as you want. Many people order them for family who can't go to PIR because they want to show their pride that day as well. They are not to frilly so men wear them too and the run from $6 to $9 depending on what style and how many you choose. Please feel free to send me a friend request if you have other questions and you can also click on "contact us" on my website :) I appreciate you all very much and I hope your Thanksgiving was nice :)
