N4M's Community Guidelines

OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Watched the video of the PIR last night.  At 1:52:35 My Sailor, myself, my niece and youngest son are on it!  My back is towards the camera, but a perfect view of my Sailor and Niece!  What an amazing ceremony!  If you were unable to attend, or have relatives who missed it, the video is up for about 2 weeks.  The 1/17/14 PIR was still up last night, so there is time to pass the link...

Good morning, what beautiful, brutally cold mornings in the Great Lakes region...would not have missed it for the world!!!
My sailor went to Fort Leonardwood, MO also known as Fort lost in the Woods. There was another female sailor and three male sailors that also went there. If you are N4M members please feel free to friend me and private email. We met one of the sailors but needed to get going on the 9 hour trip home so we missed meting his parents. Of all the places the Navy has for training our sailor's "a" school is about 2 1/2 hours from our home!

Just woke up from a nap (needed it so much since I only got 9 hours since I woke up Thursday morning for our trip).  We had time yesterday with him from 11:30 - 5:00 since he had watch.  He left for O'Hare about 12:30am and we got there at about 2:00.  His flight left just before 8:00, so not much sleep for any of us.  I wouldn't have missed spending time with him, but it was hard on the younger siblings, they are still sleeping!  His plane laded a few hours ago and have been waiting for the call he said he hoped to make to let us know he arrived.  Anxious again, but this time I can send texts ( and check if he is active on FB).

Bittersweet weekend. Sarge's meet and great was great, so full of hhelpfull information. PIR was so impressive, we loved the band and choir. Our Sailor made E2!! So proud and his Div was one of two Div's that received academic award. We only had until 7:15 pm last night with him. We met at the airport at 4:15 am and stayed with him until 10:30 am. At first he was flying individual but then thank goodness one of his best buddies ended up on the same flight. It so happens that his friend's mom and I have been talking a lot on here so that was nice. They are headed to MA school in San Antonio. They are hoping to room together. But having to say goodbye again after such a short visit was so hard. I have a son in the Army that went to S Korea this week, he has been in for 1 1/2 yrs now. You would think It would get easier, but it doesn't. Plus my Sailor is my baby. But I am so very proud. Thanks ladies for all your help! We finally made it. Now it is off to the A school group. By the way to the Mom who said Hoorah above that is what the Army says, the Navy says Hooyah!

Thanks for sharing this, Lloyd!  So glad that all is going well.

Everyone enjoy your sailor visits today, whether at the airports or in GL!  Stay warm!

PIR was great. We got to spent a lot of time with our sailor before he had to report back for transport over to the A School side. He didn't finish checking into A school until 1600. We didn't have to get him back until 2200, but we dropped him off at his new ship at 2100 just to be safe. He wanted to sleep late this morning, so we haven't picked him up yet. The temperature this morning is 23 degrees. It is unbelievable how warm 23 degrees feels after being out in -30 wind chills yesterday. It was the coldest weather I have ever experienced. Well worth the pain though. Thanks to tips from Sarge, we are having a great time. Congratulations to all the new sailors and their families. For all those with upcoming PIR dates, try to make it to Sarge's meet and greet. It will be a big help to you and you will meet a lot of the folks that you are chatting with here. One last thing. Thanks for making this dad feel so welcome among all of you moms. This is a great site and it was a huge comfort to be able to check in each day and share with all of you. Heading out now for another day with my sailor!
