~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Good morning all! Its actually snowing here in Tennessee this morning, happy 2014 I guess.

Diannep I sent you a PM about BS21 date I got in a letter today.

Comment by kateamelia on January 2, 2014 at 2:41pm

Thank you, that is a fabulous idea!!! Do you know what the liberty time is? He mentioned he had liberty all weekend, does that mean he has to check back to the base each night?

Comment by diannep on January 2, 2014 at 2:40pm

When they give the Liberty Call after PIR, the stands empty quickly (kind of like a cattle stampede, so be careful) and there is even some running by some to get to their sailors!  It is quite a sight to see!  We decided to stay in the empty stands and let our sailor find US.  That backfired....sigh.  We didn't let him know of our plan ahead of time or maybe it would have worked?  Regardless, you only have about 10 minutes after PIR concludes to get pictures.  They will clear the hall after that.

Comment by diannep on January 2, 2014 at 2:39pm

kateamelia:  Some like to wear a certain color scarf so the sailors can spot you in the stands during PIR....signs are not permitted so please don't bring those in order for your sailor to find you.  But you know what?  Our sailor never spotted us during PIR (and we never saw him!) but we found him afterwards.  Your division will be directly in front of you.  No worries...you will find each other!  PIR is from 9 - 10:30 a.m.  But you should arrive there much earlier than that....gates open at 6:30 and even though you have a division section, it fills up early!

does anyone know what to expect at graduation? how will my SR find us after the ceremony?

Comment by Marksmom91 on January 2, 2014 at 1:51pm

Can't wait to see that counter above go below 20 this weekend!  Three weeks from today we will be heading for (hopefully) sunny Chicago to see our SRs graduate!

Good morning all.  Happy New Year.  I've missed so much not being able to get online as we went on a family cruise.  My SR called twice while we were at sea.  Can't wait for that phone bill :)  He sounded good.  He wanted to know if a Navy destroyer was as big as our cruise ship...I guess he will have plenty of his own "cruising" experience in the years to come!   God bless all you Navy momma's as we await our SR's PIR dates this month!  -Ship 03 Div 071 PIR 1/24/14

Good morning everyone.

Thanks so much everyone. There is still plenty of time to order and receive before you leave for PIR. I ship Priority 2-3 day mail and as long as I have a ribbon order about 10 days before you are leaving you will still receive them in plenty of time. If you want embroidered shirts or other items then order as soon as possible because those take longer :)

Simon's mom, I accepted your friend request and sent you the link to my website. My cell number is in that message so if you have any problems placing your order just call me and we can do it over the phone :)

Good morning everyone I hope you new year is off to a good start :)
