~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.
~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.
~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.
~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:
• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:
• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.
Some Suggestions:
~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.
~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option
~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Just talked to my son again. He had a little more time to talk tonight. He said that his division is starting to function as a team and everything is starting to click. It all gets easier for them from here. He is loving boot camp. That is a bit sick, but he grew up hearing navy terms and folding his clothes like I taught him. He probably could have passed a sea bag inspection upon arrival at Great Lakes.
Dexter93. DIV 069. PIR 24Jan14, Division 069 is getting calls!
Hello All~
"Behold, the virgin shall be with child,
and bear a Son, and they shall call
His name Immanuel, which is translated,
'God with us.' "
Matthew 1:23
Maria: Don't believe that is correct, unless there have been changes recently. My son flew to Meridian (but 4 yrs ago) and he happened to be booked on a 10 a.m. flight. It was delayed 2 to 3 times, and by the time his group actually left, they had missed their connection in ATL. Delta had to put them up in a hotel for the night...yikes, sailors cooped up in Bootcamp for over 2 mos on the loose in ATL! HA! Just kidding, all worked out.
It is possible that your SR meant that they are bussed as a group to the airport in the wee hours of the morning to wait for their flights. They will not have actual flight info until right before PIR. Normally the first flights leave around 6 a.m. but will be happening all day into the later afternoon/early evening. The sailors on those later flights will have to wait in the airport all day.
We suggest that you plan to arrive at the airport (make sure you know if your sailor is leaving from OHare or Midway!) around 4 a.m.---take ID to get the airlines gate pass. The checkin process takes a while for them...lots of sailors there since they are all sent out there in the wee hours of the morning. We suggest that when you return your sailor to RTC Fri night, head back to your hotel to get some sleep, and head out to the airport leaving around 3 a.m.
Good Morning All !
My son told me that he heard the flight out to Meridian MS after PIR is a red eyeflight...so some time really early in the am...does anyone if this is correct? We are trying to coordinate getting him his laptop and cell etc etc...
My son got a 100 on his test so he got an extra call to home! Great Xmas present!!
@ Jamie,
I love your new post it's beautiful......
Good evening,
I have enjoyed reading your post on what's going on in each of your lives. Here's a run down: today is my 9 year old daughter's birthday so we had a birthday party at Chuck E Cheese and I must say it was very nice. While at Chuck E Cheese my SR called and I was so happy to hear from her. She seems to be doing well, adjusting well, and seems to have the sniffles. She passed her test this past week and I am excited for that accomplishment. I am glad to hear all the good news everyone has been posting but I have to get some rest. I travelled to MS on Friday for a funeral and returned today to attend my daughters party. Be blessed and continue to keep your spirits lifted remember our SR's miss us just as much as we miss them.
dik'sMom: Calls are very random while at bootcamp. They may tell you they will call again on ___ and the call doesn't come then. They may tell you they can't call again for a long time, and then get to call 5 days later. That is why we tell everyone to keep their phones close at all times....even when in the bathroom or when getting the mail. Calls have been missed in the past during these times...and it is heartbreaking to see that missed call!
