For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

If it is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended. First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but discouraged as their RDC's read this site and can easily match them up with their "mom". Comment by BDee76(Ship 03 Division 048) on December 4, 2011 at 12:27am: Form letter says if driving a vehicle onto bas will need to sl parking pass for SR PIR..says the passes are password protected, but the line for PW is blank??? Could it be because my husband is retired Military so we don't need parking pass since we can get on base anyways? Or does every vehicle need pass no matter what?? Just concerned cause line is blank?

Please write your recruit and tell them you need him to write back and send the password. This is confidential. Please do not post the password here in order to help out. It allows entry to a military installation. You have time, don't worry. Also, when you are allowed to type it in it must be in all caps. Passwords are PIR specific.
Even if you take the shuttle to PIR )you won't need the gate pass then) but want to drive back onto base to return your sailor you will need the pass.

I rec'd the form letter yesterday but where the password for PIR (guess the parking pass & such) is suppose to be it is blank? Is this normal? Will they send PW closer to date of PIR or should I be concerned? Thanks for any help!

Keeping busy helps. I am in full time ministry which includes 3 different jobs so I am pretty busy all of the time. I am just hoping this winter isn't too bad up there for them.

Comment by diannep on December 3, 2011 at 10:14pm: As Lala explained, there is a difference in "boot camp weeks" and "training weeks." They can actually be in processing days sometimes up to almost 2 weeks after arrival which delays the start of "training weeks". So the important count is the "training week" count which goes as Lala said...week 1 day 1 starts it. The days only go up to 5. Weekends/holidays do not count in the day count. So if they are 1 (week) 3 (day) on Friday, for instance, then on Monday, they will be 1(week) 4(day). They "lose" a day when there is a holiday, meaning that their training day moves back one day. Don't worry, they still graduate on time...They are ready for Battlestations (final test) by 6-4, 6-5. They PIR in week 7.
