Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Comment by Navy Mom Ship 3, Div 047 on January 19, 2012 at 7:55pm: I just got a letter dated 1/15 saying it would be the last letters they would be writing for bootcamp, because they would be real busy in the coming days. GREAT news my SR ran his mile and half in 12 minutes and 9 seconds and had to be under 12 minutes and 15 seconds. Wow what a relief. He said the gas chamber hurt and really burn your throat. He said they are doing test 3 on the 17th(he wrote this on the 15th). He said he really is excited for battle stations.

Comment by diannep on January 19, 2012 at 5:49pm: Oh, and Marissa, as you found out, they don't have BattleStations every night. They never have them on Fri or Sat nights. They usually have them about 3-5 nights a week, depending on the size of the PIR group.

Comment by diannep on January 19, 2012 at 5:43pm: Thanks, NavyMom. It is very unusual for them to start BattleStations for a PIR group on Wed night...but a couple of moms had told me that their SRs reported the 18th as the date...so we wanted to make sure not to miss calls.

Soooo....now we know WHEN they go through! Sorry for the day of torture for you all. One suggestion was that the BS had been changed from the 19th to the 18th. Sometimes that happens..."change" is THE WORD in the NAVY!

I want you all to know that yours posts have been very helpful and informative. It has gotten me through some tough days, knowing that you are all going through the same emotions as I am. I want to Thank You all very much. I really can't wait to meet a lot of you. I'm still counting down the days, and soon it will down to hours... I really hope we all get call soon...Thinking of you all and all of our soon to be "Sailors" Carolyn
