Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

I want to thank all the vets and moms/wives/gfs who have helped pass along info and get us to where we need to be!!!!

Comment by diannep on January 18, 2012 at 9:03am: Ladies, we are still having confusion on the BS date for the first few divisions. I'm asking all to have phones ready tomorrow(Thurs) afternoon just in case. Calls normally don't start to come in until 2 pm GL time but phones ready all day just in case. Sorry to have you on "standby" for possibly 2 days, but when there is conflict in dates, we need to cover all bases!

Comment by Mrs. David's mom on January 18, 2012 at 6:28am: I canceled my sub job Friday, but I doubt if I can take off from my bus route. We are usually short of drivers on Friday afternoons. I can't answer my phone while driving, so from about 2:45-4:15 I'm unreachable! Hopefully, David remembers that and will call before. If he waits till after I'll be so 'on edge'... Well, if ever those little darlin's on the bus needed to be on their best behavior, that would be the day!

Comment by diannep on January 17, 2012 at 9:57pm: ...and, to add on to Lala's post, the calls can go for quite a while...and sometimes they can start later than 2 pm GL time. Rarely do they start before that time, but phones handy (in the bras is a good spot!) all day just in case! You don't want to miss this very special call!

I hope everyone here had a great day. It is at the very least one more day closer to seeing your Sailor :-)

seawitch, the calls don't usually start coming in until 1 or 2 in the afternoon great Lake (central) time.
