For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

If it is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended. First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but discouraged as their RDC's read this site and can easily match them up with their "mom". Comment by diannep on January 12, 2012 at 8:49am: Good morning, all. Prayers for all of the recruits at RTC right now...especially the ones who knew the recruit who died. May the Lord strengthen them and give them peace. And may He comfort the family/friends of this recruit. Autopsy is being performed today, but not sure when results would be released. Almost sounds like a heart thing that so many young athletes have died of...even though in great shape. Kind of an undiagnosed fluke. I heard a dr expert the other day on tv say that all athletes/persons doing training should really undergo an electocardiogram to diagnose heart issues not readily apparent. As FTLW said, I'm sure there will be an official release from the Navy once they get confirmed info.

In the meantime...prayers....

I can't imagine how this is affecting our children. May God be with and comfort all of them during this time of tragic loss.

Comment by ProudOfGar on January 11, 2012 at 11:39pm: Yea I have finally gotten myself recomposed I just hung up with the recruiter and even though he had no info he was very understanding to my freak out and spoke calming words til I felt better. My heart is still breaking just thinking about what this family must be or will be going through. I'm still praying.

There'll be conflicting reports I'm sure until the family is notified(which I hope they have been by now...since it was late morning) and they finish their investigation.

The news has not hit the some of other PIR groups yet...I'd like it to remain that way if possible...will handle it when it starts to come in.

I am so sorry for this loss...for him...for the family, for all the recruits and Sailors and Staff at RTC.

There are no real words...
