Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

If it is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended. First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but discouraged as their RDC's read this site and can easily match them up with their "mom". I'm not seeing that there is a Weapons Petty Officer in the descriptions of the recruit positions, so maybe he meant he achieved an award for marksmanship?

I do not want to miss the meet and greet and such. I will be able to do this without requesting another day off from work. I am starting to get excited. One plane ticket down, one to go...and hotel and car, lol.

Comment by diannep on December 15, 2011 at 10:40am: Mindy: He should have some SIQ and light duty after wisdom teeth extraction. No worries...he won't get behind in training...they work with them. Wisdom teeth extraction is very common there.

So glad he is doing well! Maybe he is the Recruit Weapons Petty Officer? Just guessing here...but they give them recruit positions there.

Comment by diannep on December 15, 2011 at 10:38am: I have heard of PIR groups with 13 divisions having all of the extras get in...so bring them! No permission needed....just ID for them like yours and the name of your sailor. Probably better if they come in with those on the list.

I got a letter from my SR today as well, basically said same thing. She passed her swim test and such as well. I also printed out the questionnaire & sent it to her, hasn't sent it back yet. Can't wait for the call :)

It was really neat because it was filled with all the info us moms want to know. I highly suggest everyone print it out and mail to their SR with a self addressed stamped envelope for them to fill out and return back to you
