Kat.weir: what division is your husband in? Curious if we may be getting mail at same time you are.

On the Navy Training Command I asked if the SR's will get holiday time for Christmas and New Years Day and they wrote the following answer: "The RTC refers to Sunday's as "Holiday Schedule" which basically means they get from 0700 to 1300 of "me" time. They can use this time for religious services, letter writing, etc. Thanksgiving and Christmas were/are "Holiday Schedule" but not the Monday after Christmas or New Years, these will be regular training days."

Ahhh....AutumnSunset>  The visual of you two dancing under the tree....how sweet!  He redeemed himself!  I have been putting up the tree myself for years.  When the boys were younger, they helped...hubby sometimes too.  But once the boys hits their teens, all 3 men lost interest.  Hubby passed away, boys moved away (one is back home now temporarily), but other than my son helping me to get it in the stand and in the liviing room, I'm on my own...sigh...

Oh my on your sweet Shade.  I bet she felt she had died and gone to heaven when you got her.  Shame on those previous owners!  Mine too was in Lab Rescue for a year before we got him. We never could figure out why he was in so long...he started in Lab Rescue with an Air Force Captain stationed in Panama City FL, missing his Labs who were with his wife/family in KS.  He saved the life of mine...he was so sick they wanted to put him down..twice (he was a "runner" and his family just abandoned him in the shelter...which is where he got so sick).  AF Captain was told he would only have him for a few weeks...he had him for 5 mos until he was shipped out to Afghanistan.  Heartbreaking, he said, to say goodbye to him.  Then he was placed with a family....Mom claimed he bit the 3 yr old daughter when they told her to "go get the rawhide bone from him."  DUH!  No way this dog bit...Lab Rescue took him back (he was now in Tampa) and trainers worked with him...never could get him to be aggressive at all....he is a big goofy loving dog.  So now he was with another guy volunteering with Lab Rescue.  That is where we found him.  Drove over 4 hours each way in one day (with my sailor son who was in DEP at the time) to get him.  He has been a treasure...our other dog (non-Lab) is also a rescue...I truly think rescues have an extra sense of devotion to their adopted families...they just are so grateful.

So glad that Shade is happy right now and out of pain...and enjoying life!  Prayers for you all that these are some of the happiest days ever in enjoying each other.

Good Morning, all!
