Good Morning!
PROUD MOM: My son told me the same thing before he left for his bootcamp...I probably won't write, Mom. Well, he wrote about 5 letters, huge for him. And they were 2 pagers...another huge! So funny....but they learn real quick after arriving how much family means to them. Makes your heart break for those there who have no family... :-(
AutumnSunset: Ahhhhhh.....so sweet. Doing all of the things she loves. Your hubby sounds like a wonderful man to not want to disturb her so bunking on the couch. Maybe there is a way for all of you to fit in there?? HA! I know your sweet pup would love that. Blessings to you all and prayers that she stays out of pain for as long as possible...and happy! I have had to put 3 of my Labs to sleep over the years....the first one 15 yrs old, her son was 17 yrs old, and my last little girl was 13 yrs old. My late hubby was a vet so he put the first two down...don't know how he did it. I cried for days...but he was gone by the time I had to put my last one to sleep...such a horrible decision to make but she was in terrible distress and I knew I had no choice. I got a rescue Lab (5 yrs old at the time...8 now) a month later to try and help with my grieving...he has been such a joy to me, and company for our Rottweiler mix boy. Both are 8 yrs old...and we take two fast exercise walks a day (total of 3 miles). I try not to focus on the day I will lose them...and concentrate on the joy they are right now to me.
Does your SR know about this? I know we advise all to try and keep bad news quiet until PIR (or after BattleStations) if at all possible. So hoping that your pup has a long time before going to heaven...prayers for you all.
mantha: Since you are going along to PIR, you may want to post what time you are arriving at the airport to see if you can share a ride with anyone else on here. For those using SARGE for transportation, he charges by the car, so it is cheaper for all with more passengers! I know once you meet up with your husband, you will want your one-on-one time...but until then...no need to be alone! Congrats on the letter! I know there will be more to come!
Good morning, all. Have a good weekend!
Thank you all for your kind comments regarding my dog, Shade. The pain meds seem to be helping her. I have been taking her everywhere with me as she loves to ride in the car and does not seem to be bothered by it. It was funny as she had climbed in the bed last night before my husband came through and bless his heart, when he came to bed he didn't want to disturb her and I so he slept on the couch! (Normally, only our little 9 lbs rat terrier, Jinny is allowed to sleep in the bed.)
Fire Team Leader Wife, I hope you are feeling better today. Remember lots of rest, fluids and vit. C.
Lala, the tote bag and case are beautiful. I enjoy sewing as well and look forward to having time to work on some Navy theme items.
Well, I don't want to scare you but remember absence makes the heart grow fonder... My daughter met a guy in the DEP. They were friends, worked out together and hung out for 3 weeks before she left for bootcamp. She was only in DEP for a month. He wrote her every day while she was there. I have no idea what was said in the letters but they basically fell "in love" while she was away. I just believe being homesick can do crazy things to your heart. He went to PIR (his mom drove him there from NC) Then he went to see her at A-school about 3 weeks later and he proposed. A month later he went back and they went to the court house and got married and did not tell anyone. We begged her to wait and get to know him better because she really did not know him at all. But they didn't wait, he was leaving for bootcamp and they knew if they were not married before he left the chance of them getting based near each other would be very slim. 4 days after they got married he left for bootcamp. She wasn't phased up yet to be allowed off base over night so they didn't even get to spend their wedding night together. After boot camp he had A-school in Pensacola but by then she was in C-school in VA. They were married 5 months before he moved to VA to be with her. Those 5 months were very hard for them and then when they moved in together it was even harder and believe me I worried a lot. But they have now been married over a year and seem to be doing much better. I still worry but I have to let them live their lives and figure it all out. I am still not crazy about the whole situation but he is growing on me lol. I all I want is for my baby girl to be happy and as long as he is making her happy I am good. Good luck to all of you with the gf/bf issues. I feel for you and what you are going through. Just don't pressure then too hard to stay apart because it can backfire on you and bring them closer together. My best advice is to tell them not to make decisions when emotions of being away from home are so high. :-)
So funny seeing all the bf/gf posts. The kid my daughter was dating was not my favorite, but she was old enough to make her own choices. I am just wondering if going into the Navy will change her view on what she wants.
FTLW,
Hope you get to feeling better soon!
