FTLW, if they need references for clearance, do you only need names and phone numbers, or addresses, as well? Can they be the same references that were used on the original entrance paperwork they filled out while in DEP, or do they need to be entirely new references? Thanks, again, for the help and advice!

SECURITY CLEARANCE CALLS

Here is something on SECURITY CLEARANCE CALLS:

There is the possibility of you receiving a phone call from your SR (Seaman Recruit) during the first one to two weeks (sometimes later as well) after their arrival for Security Clearance info. I received mine one week after my son arrived at RTC. Had no idea it would come that fast. I'd only really been on the site for a week or two, so I had NOTHING ready! (My son asked for two more names along with their phone number and address. Sometimes you may be asked to fax the info but he was told to get it from me right then.).So... if your Recruit has a rating that requires security clearance information...800 Divisions, IT's, CTI's CTT's Nukes, AT's (the list goes on!), anyone that handles confidential info...have a list of references by the phone.

This is a short business call and is monitored. No time for chit chat...but once in a great while the person monitoring the call allows a few extra minutes.

The area code for GL is "847". My security clearance call, the caller ID said "US GOVERNMENT". We have also had "PAY PHONE" reported and then area codes for the surrounding areas...so answer all...and just get rid of those telemarketers!

Also, if you receive a call from your SR (at any time...not just the Security Call) and miss it...please do not call the number back. Your SR could get in trouble.

 Hi all.  I've been here before when my son was in bc, now my daughter is there.  I just got the letter today, yea!!!  She's ship 11, div 079.  My son left two years ago on Dec 10.  He's had a deployment, stationed in CA and is a Petty Officer 2nd class.  My baby girl is going into IT.  While it is a bit easier this time I miss her like mad.  I just know what to expect.   I have my tears times, and proud moments.  I look forward to getting to know you all, and some of you again.  Blessings to all.

The 12 in TG means that the TG started their training in the twelfth week of the fiscal year. Military fiscal year starts October 1.

TG = Training Group

A TG is made up of all the divisions that will graduate in the same day.

Diannep, thanks so much for the encouragement. I so admire the women here whose children have already finished their service, but still stick around to help those of us who are navigating this adventure for the first time. My sincere thanks.

My thanks to your son for his service, and kudos to him for pursuing his degree. This is the same thing my son plans on doing. Hope you have a wonderful holiday season.
