Congrats!!! to our Sailors!!! We can not wait till next week!!! We would like to thank everyone for being so encouraging!!! We are still praying for SR'S that will be graduating at a later date!!
Yes you are all very welcome, we love helping out and meeting all the new members, that is truly why we are here SO much :-)
You are very welcome, chocolatelablover! And...remember...in another week, YOU will be a N4Moms veteran in addition to your veteran Navy Wife experience. I think you could offer lots of support for the future PIR groups so if you would like to join us, please do so~ That is true for anyone on here...we are a self-regulating group...no one is "in charge"...the site is regulated by the Navy4Moms Admin but those of us who volunteer do so freely and when we can.
We welcome any of you jump on the PIR groups (there is usually one every Fri, with a few "skips")...whenever you want to to share your experiences with those just starting out!
I want to take this opportunity to thank all the veteran Mom's who have given up their time to follow all these discussion groups to support the new Mom's. You are true blessings to the Navy Family. As a veteran Navy Wife, it makes me feel so good to know that the Navy Families continue to be in good hands. THANK YOU!
Yes, Lala. Major shakeup the past two weeks in when they do BattleStations. They have been starting 2 days earlier than usual and like you said, this group has actually finished more than a week before PIR. Strange...But, yes, you are right...makes travel alot easier when you know all is well this far in advance!
efarmer: Yes, you will be allowed to go in the NEX with your sailor. You cannot look around the RTC campus. They will have sailors posted to "remind" you of this. You cannot go to the ships and see where they have spent the past 8 weeks.
On the NEX, if you don't have to go into the one at RTC (i.e. to pay for piks, etc), you may want to wait and go to the larger one outside the base. You can get directions for it from someone on the base. It is close by and has much more of a selection of items, and will not be so crowded. The RTC NEX is very crowded after PIR, but for those who need to pay for pictures, they have to go in there. And, yes, the NEX is open on Saturdays as well. I assume that your sailor is staying in GL for A School and not flying out on Saturday?
I think it is great that they have BS this early, it just makes travel so much easier knowing before you leave that they are really done. Now if we could talk them into having the whole weekend with their families that would be amazing :-)
Questions, please...my son said there are some things in the NEX (clothes, etc.) that he would like. Will we be able to go into the NEX with him while we are there? Also, will we be able to look around the RTC campus? I feel sure he will have to be with us to do either of these. Is that correct and can we do this on Saturday as well as Friday?
FTLW, I think pretty snow would be nice, it's the kind that cancels flights that I don't believe in!
Thank you Connie. Lots and lots of recovered health! We want happy strong sailors when we arrive next week!
