...proudmom: I SO agree with your "children on loan" comment. Helps us to remember who they really belong too!
tona: So glad that you heard a good report from your SR!
chocolatelablover (I'm an "ALL"Lablover....just adore them!)....yes, wisdom teeth removal is very common at bc. Very few get to keep theirs once arriving at bc!
proudmom: When he mentioned starting the 3rd week, he means "training" week. That is different from "bootcamp" week. They only have 6 weeks of training, yet 8 weeks (or longer depending on holidays) of bootcamp.
Good Morning! So happy, happy, happy, for all of you who have been receiving letters & phone calls. I think Div 074 is not doing so well...so I am living vicariously through all of you. My Daughter in Law has gotten several letters and she calls me with the updates. The saying " A daughter's a daughter all of you life, A son is a son until he takes a wife" definately true! She is a great DIL. Did hear he passed the PT test & kicked butt on the crunches. Had his wisdom teeth pulled. That must be a standard practice at BC since I have read so many others say their SRs have had the procedure done too. He is also the Lead Yeoman. He has lost weight. He has always been a picky eater...wonder how that's working out for him. You all have a great Navy Day!!!!
I heard from my SR today- He said his group has become a good team. They earned a flag for scholastics. I said I was proud of him he said it wasn't me it was the div. It took all of us. He sounded so upbeat and happy. He said the food has been good and he has started to gain muscle. He said he has discovered many things he thought he would not like were actually fun. He confirmed getting ready to start week three. It was wonderful talking to him and we both cried when he said he had to go get his parka and line up. Can't wait for PIR. He said they are down about 10 but gained a few and there are 90 in his division.
Thanks, FTLW...HOOYAH!
proudmom- your statement "We love our kids so much and hold on so tight fearing this very thing. It is during these times God reminds me that my kids are on loan to me. They really belong to Him..." is so very right. Dang it. I want to stomp my feet and say "No, they are mine, mine, mine, mine, mine", but luckily both my kids and God remind me pretty frequently that I can't be selfish.
Heard from my SR today! First time since he left on December 12th. I have received two letters since the first form letter. He sounded good. Calm and mature. We talked 15 minutes. He did not know details about the death..said a fellow recruit saw it on the news while at the dentist this morning. He said most everyone got sick initially. He received 6 shots when he got there. Got up at 4:30 this morning and was getting his teeth cleaned at 5:30 AM! I asked was he enjoying it? He said, "it's boot camp, not a party" that made me laugh. He said if he had time on his hands, he might feel different but he doesn't. He also said Ship 03 Div 071 did so well on their first academic test, they earned a flag to carry in PIR! Can't tell you how happy it made my heart to hear his voice! I feel much better!
