Just so it on this page. My prayer goes out to the family.

I purposley stayed away yesterday.  My daughter is at school currently at the Great Lakes.  They were called together yesterday and told what happened.  The recruit was taking his final PT test.  My paryers go out to his family.

I hope that everyone is saying many prayers today. First for the family of the SR who passed. I cannot imagine losing a child. Second is giving thanks for our children and their safety. I believe God has a special plan for this young SR.

Oaki Cowgirl  - "Special Unit" is the 800 or 900 group. Sorry I was not clear. It's my Navy Wife background. I forget to go into in depth explaination sometimes.

RTC's official statement on the recruit who died yesterday will be issued today.  Autopsy to be performed today also.  Not sure when results would be known.  Prayers for the family/friends and all at RTC, especially the SRs who knew this SR.  May the Lord give His great comfort to all.

Good morning, everyone.

My heart breaks for the family of the SR who passed away yesterday.  As selfish as it may be, I'm thankful to not have received a phone call.  My prayers go out to the family of the SR as well as ALL of the recruits - and to all of of you on board.  God Bless.

I hope you can get some sleep tonight folks...love you all my Navy Family.

Chocolate lab lover- I agree with FTLW.  I don't think my daughter got to call b/c she is in a "special" unit, I think it was the official 3 week call.  It should be your turn soon.

I was holding off until someone actually said something. Here is what we know.

(This is copied and pasted from another group)

All I can find out is that he was 19 and passed out during training based on brief news reports.

There'll be conflicting reports I'm sure until the family is notified(which I hope they have been by now...since it was late morning) and they finish their investigation.

The news has not hit the some of other PIR groups yet...I'd like it to remain that way if possible...will handle it when it starts to come in.

I am so sorry for this loss...for him...for the family, for all the recruits and Sailors and Staff at RTC.

There are no real words...

**

I am sure RTC will put out an official report and I am not going to comment on anything else I read until I see that...I know we will all be watching the news reports.

They have released the name ...please do not post it until an official report. Thank you all.

Have any of you heard anything about the SR that dies at bootcamp this morning?
Comment by Lala Ribbon Queen PIR Ribbons on January 11, 2012 at 10:41pm

welcome forever, sorry he was set back but at least it is still early, lots of time for him to get the job done and plenty of time for you to bond with this lovely bunch of ladies in this group. I hope you didn't have flight reservations yet.
