Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

If it is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended. First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture.

Comment by diannep on February 14, 2012 at 10:00am: We had 9 divisions when my son was there...we were on the 6:30 shuttle and in our seats a little after 7. Would do it the same way again. Even that early, there were alot of people there and most of the top row (leaning up against back wall) was already taken.

Comment by Lala Ribbon Queen PIR Ribbons on February 13, 2012 at 11:09pm: With this small PIR group you should be fine to wait until 7. But if you want to have your choice of seats go earlier. We had 13 DIV and left the hotel at 6:30 and was on base, through the check in line and in our seats in the ceremony hall by 7:30. I didn't think that was bad all all for such a large group.

Comment by GoatLady (USS Theodore Roosvelt) on February 13, 2012 at 5:02pm: My husband told me about turning off the flash because my first couple of pictures turned out terrible! I was so upset because I was afraid I wasn't going to get any good pictures. That is when he said turn off the flash and try again. And life was good again :-) I knew I brought him along for a reason!

I second Diane's wish that all your sailors are healed and healthy by PIR! Trust me - having you all there is the best medicine the doctor could order!

Hope all sailors are healed of injuries/illnesses by PIR! If not, I'm sure having family with them will be just what the doctor ordered!

Now with that out of the way, After reading all these comments and my own son's struggle with health, I think I am re-naming Boot Camp, "Sick Camp"! Praise God for those who have survived it all and will make it to PIR on 02/17! Some were not strong enough on some level and I am sad. Lets remember to pray for them. I have been hoping NOT to get a call this week, it might have meant someone was NOT going to be at Graduation! At this point, I hope and pray all is well in the world our Sailors dwell in! BTW, Yay for 15 and 16 year olds holding down the forts!
