Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

If it is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended. First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember someone can easily match them up with their "mom". Since Monday was a holiday today and tomorrow should be good days for getting letters depending on where you live. I have my fingers crossed for you all :-)

Comment by raeinaz on December 29, 2011 at 11:05am: A letter would be great today...This sure has been a rocky rough week....Christmas, and yesterday was our SR's Birthday...but this I know for sure...he is doing what he wants and has wanted to do for years...he is on the way to fulfilling his dream...So we may have been a little sad the last few days, but I try my best to go back to, This is his dream....

Jenn- I don't know about anyone else from Jersey- if they are hopefully they will give you a shout-out. I do know that several people have gotten a no kidding actual letter. It looks like the time they are given to write is pretty short. My SR wrote a pretty quick/short letter, and at the end commented that her time was up. I am pretty sure she didn't have time to write anyone else. I am hoping that they were given a little more time on Christmas day. Wednesdays look like the best promise for mail from our SRs, except for the weeks that have a Monday holiday (and we have 4 of those for our recruits). Then Thursday would be the day to skip to the mailbox singing "We just got a letter, we just got a letter, we just got a letter, I wonder who it's from" and hope that there is one in the box. (She is 19 years old and I still have music from Blue's Clues stuck in my head)
